"Come here!" The Thus-gone One said to him. He then took the signs of a monk, And was liberated in that very instant. Thereafter, because of his retinue, His entourage of fifty, And the three, the self, and the one, All fully attained that Dharma. Like clothes stained with alkali, Thoroughly cleansed with water, those who had karma from previous lives, They quickly became pure. Then at that time, for the Arhat disciples, The first benefit was done for all sixty, The Arhats, with manifest offerings to the Arhat, Truly taught as was fitting. The monks overcame suffering, And greatly accomplished their own work, And also for the sufferings of others, They are the kind who act to take them in. Therefore, each and every one, Please all go to this place, For the sake of the wretched world, Teach the Dharma with compassion. For the sake of accomplishment, the brothers with miraculous powers, To tame the Light-protected hermits, Served by the royal hermit, I too will go to Gaya. Thereafter, seeing him, those ones, Departed in different directions from his command. The Peaceful, the Gone to Bliss, free from strife, As a great hermit, also went to Gaya. Thereafter, having gone there in due time, He approached the hermitage of Dharma. As if actually abiding in asceticism, There he saw Light-protected. Even though there were places In the mountains and forests, With the ten powers desiring to gather, He arose relying on them greatly. Thereafter, for the sake of diminishing the accomplished, A fire chamber greatly served the hungry one, That inauspicious place gave it to him. There he slept, at night in his own place, To the Great Hero without reliance, Seeing the venomous one enraged, The emanation saw and breathed out. Because of his burning anger, That which had become a fire chamber, Did not touch the body of the Great Hermit With fire, as if in fear. When the fire of the final age was nearing peace, Like Brahma dwelling beautifully, Even if burned in the fire chamber, Gautama did not change. When the Buddha was dwelling there, Harmless and unwavering, Then the Naga was amazed, And paid homage to the supreme Hermit. In the deer forest, people Learned that the Sage was dwelling there, And cried out in distress,

Similar. The monk's words were praised thereafter. Then, when the night had passed, the Guide, through miraculous power, with a peaceful snake, with a begging bowl, took it and showed it to them. Thereafter, upon hearing of the Buddha, the great master, they were amazed by this. Even so, they thought themselves to be great and unsurpassed. Then, at the appropriate time, with various forms of miraculous manifestations, knowing their minds, the peaceful Sage considered thus: 'How can they, through miraculous power, think themselves superior to the Buddha's excellence?' In order to establish their Dharma well, at that time, he decided, 'It must be so.' Returning from all places of dwelling, upon seeing the radiant Kashyapa, the assemblies of disciples, five hundred of them, also approached his Dharma. There, with brothers and disciples, upon finally abandoning the husk and skin, though called the Gaya River, they also went there to approach the path. Thereafter, the Sage, with his disciples, to those three Kashyapa brothers, on the summit of Mount Gaya, certainly spoke the ultimate words. The birthplace of conceptual thought, ignorance spread like smoke, the beings burned by the fire of attachment and hatred, are all involuntarily burned. Thus, burned by the fire of afflictions, utterly unpacified, without protectors, the flames of old age and death, again burn continuously. Seeing these beings burned by various flames, without refuge, with mind and faculties, the wise are disgusted with the body. From disgust arises detachment, from detachment, liberation, from liberation, in all things, knowing they are liberated. The stream of birth is completely exhausted, the pure conduct abides here, all that needs to be done has been done, there is no other craving. Upon hearing these words of the Bhagavan, the minds of thousands of monks, from non-grasping, the defilements were exhausted, and immediately they were liberated. Those who give, keep vows, and are tamed, completely expound the Dharma in this way. Thereafter, with vast wisdom, the three Kashyapa brothers adorned the Buddha. Like abandoning the life of a wicked sentient being devoid of Dharma and meaning, that ascetic forest, abandoned by those excellent elders, was no longer beautiful. Thereafter, they surrounded, the Able

He went to the royal palace, for the sake of the ruler of Magadha. He remembered the previous oath. Then, the Tathagata completely obtained the land of the Radiant Grove. The ministers followed, and upon hearing this, they went ahead grandly. Then, with a mount equal to his own merit, the people widened their eyes in amazement, emerging from the mountain path. The ruler of Magadha, seeing the Supreme Sage from afar, descended from the chariot to offer swift worship. He abandoned the whisk and fan, and the retinue, like Brahma before the gods, he went before the King of Sages. With his crown swaying, he bowed to the supreme ascetic, and was respectfully permitted to sit on the soft grass on the ground. Then, the people thought: Alas, the power of Shakyamuni! The ascetic Lord of Radiant Protection has become his disciple. Then, the Buddha, knowing his mind, said to Radiant Protection: Radiant Protection, what qualities did you see that you abandoned fire? With the great voice of giving water, the teacher urged him thus, loudly requesting with folded hands, pervading all beings. Because the fruits of offerings and fire sacrifices are entirely cyclic existence, and are endowed with various mental illnesses, therefore I abandoned fire. Because in the land, people engage in recitations and fire sacrifices due to thirst, but those places do not eliminate thirst, therefore I abandoned fire. Because even after reciting and burning, one is not liberated from rebirth, and the suffering of rebirth is great, therefore I abandoned fire. Because offerings, generosity, and asceticism are thought to be virtuous, but that is actually false, therefore I abandoned fire. Because I know the statement of liberation from birth and death, attaining the unchanging, virtuous state, therefore I abandoned fire. Thus, his words increased, and having been heard because they were meaningful, the taming teacher Gautama said to the tamed Radiant Protection: Fortunate one, you have come well! This is neither well done nor not done. What virtue have you obtained in the various different dharmas?
