The dike of morality relies on the force of the water of wisdom. Samadhi is like a cool ascetic practice, where swans frolic. This supreme Dharma water surrounds it completely, Allowing the thirsty and weary living beings to drink deeply. For those tormented by suffering and obscured by objects, For those dwelling in fear in the wilderness of samsara, For those who have wasted their path, like guides for the lost, He will expound the pure path of liberation. For those consumed by the fire of desire fueled by the firewood of objects, Burning the beings of the world completely, Like great clouds bringing rain at the end of summer, His Dharma rain will thoroughly cool them. The gate of craving, Is the door with the leaves of eternal ignorance and darkness. From this gate beings emerge, He will use the sound of the sacred Dharma, Difficult to find, supremely excellent, to completely open it. Bound tightly by the ropes of their own karma, Oppressed by suffering, without support, The beings of the world, having attained perfect enlightenment, This Dharma king will completely end their bonds. Whether it is ignorance, the pleasure of desire, or arrogance, Whoever does not hear this ultimate Dharma, In this human world, is a cause for sorrow. Therefore, do not grieve for this. Though I have strayed from this ocean of qualities, Even if I attain samadhi, it is meaningless, Because I have not heard this sacred Dharma, Even if I dwell in the heavens, I feel incomplete. Thus, having heard the meaning, accompanied by virtuous friends and consorts, Having abandoned unhappiness, becoming free at will, In this way, my son is such a person, He thinks of himself as possessing true worth. The noble Dharma will also benefit him, Having taken this thought to heart, This is certainly not an undesirable Dharma, But I fear the lineage will be broken. Then, to the king who was disturbed by his son, Having understood the true intention of his son, Respectfully looking up, unable to see the white form, He departed as he had come, carried by the wind.

Having seen the son of the sister who had done, Having heard the words of the Able One and his customs, That virtuous one who followed with various affections, Allowed union as if with a beloved son. The lord of men, satisfied with the birth of a son, Completely abandoned the bonds of going to other lands, For the son, the deeds of the birth of a delightful son, Allowed them to be done as they were, like the lineage. When ten days had completely passed, The mind, fully endowed with supreme joy, became peaceful, For the sake of the son becoming supreme, the offerings to the gods, Were done with recitations and fire offerings, auspiciousness, and so on. Furthermore, a number fully filled with hundreds and thousands, Stable and powerful calves with golden horns, Mothers who were nearing old age, not possessing ailments, Were given to the twice-born for the increase of their own son. Then, with a nature of peace, having done various, Actions that made his own mind content, When a moment certain of possessing qualities and virtue was determined, He planned with joy to enter the city. Then, two teeth born from teeth, priceless, A jeweled lamp adorned with white flowers, For the sake of the goodness of the throne, the goddess with a son, Having prostrated greatly to the gods, became intimate. Then, the stable female attendant following the son's protector, The retinue possessing a mistress, having entered the city first, Like the gods offering to the hundred-fold Indra, The lord of men himself was also escorted by the city's assembly. Then, like the six-faced one born with confidence and power, The Shakya king made the city completely pervaded, The face was filled with joy, saying "this and this," He made the reign flourish and increase, as well as fame and renown. Then, when the son of the lord of men was born and grew up, That city called Kapilavastu, together with its region, When the perfection of desire arose in the Yaksha city, It became joyful as if goddesses were scattering. In the great poem called "The Deeds of the Buddha," The chapter on the birth of the youth is the first. Having seen birth, old age, sickness, and death, that one whose birth is my defeat, From the time of birth, that king who is not deceived by the sun, Pacified the rivers with the force of the waters.
