May the glory of the holy land increase! If now, merely being filled with lineage, we have no merit of trusting you. Please thoroughly disturb the vast armies with arrows, and with us, defeat those enemies. Therefore, seek a middle way between the two here, and for those who desire Dharma, benefit, and desire, attend to them as they wish. Here, may the three groups completely turn away from attachment, and having gone here and elsewhere, obtain all that has fallen. If desire harms benefit and Dharma, or if Dharma and desire are completely despised and benefit is pursued, or if desire and benefit achieve Dharma through approaching tranquility, then pursue benefit, and if you want everything, that is benefit. Therefore, by necessarily attending to the three groups, may you make this body one with fruit. In obtaining Dharma, benefit, and desire without being inferior, people say that not being inferior is the purpose of a great man. Therefore, it is fitting to fully draw the bow and extend the broad hand. It is not fitting to make these fruitless, if this one, as young as I am, is able to defeat the three worlds, what need is there to mention this place? I speak these words with love, not out of wonder, nor out of the attachment of the自在者. Seeing this attire of a monk, affection arises afterward, and tears flow naturally. Therefore, as long as you have a body that is extremely similar to your own lineage, before being overwhelmed by old age, enjoy the life of a beggar, enjoy desires as you please, and at the appropriate time, delight in Dharma, practice Dharma! In old age, one can certainly attain Dharma, and there is no suffering of aging while enjoying desires. Therefore, I say enjoy desires in the prime of youth, middle age is wealth, and old age is Dharma. In the living world, Dharma and benefit are completely contradictory, therefore, although protecting youth is correct, it is also difficult, because desire steals from that path. Those who are old and frail possess various behaviors, are in an extremely stable state, and are very suitable. Because of shame and not having passed away, effort is little, and they have become the nature of peace. Therefore, cunning and the main place are...

The intoxication of desire is unbearable, and one cannot see far ahead. In the wilderness monasteries, having been satisfied and liberated, one breathes a sigh of relief. The youth of deceit and cunning has completely passed. Therefore, do not be reckless with the unstable changes. This new youth will eventually come to an end. Before the god of desire, youth is empty. And one cannot protect the senses. If you wish to practice your dharma, Then make offerings to the gods, this is the law of the lineage. Bless the heavenly realms with offerings. The lord of the gods will also go to the heavenly realms. The hands tightly bound with golden armlets, And the various armlets shining with jewel lights. The immovable sages and the great sages, On the path where they go wearily, the offering-makers also go. Thus, the ruler of Magadha spoke these words. Those who speak like Indra, exceedingly beautiful. In various lands, like the snow mountain of Tise (Mount Kailash). The king's son, having heard these words, did not waver. In the great poem called "Buddha's Deeds," the tenth chapter, which is the chapter of learning crafts in advance, ends. Then, through the door of friendship, the meaning of what is not beneficial. Thus, the ruler of Magadha spoke these words. One who does not change his own position, a pure person of pure lineage. The son of King Śuddhodana spoke these words. Having been born well into the vast lineage marked by lions, Your contentment is not so surprising. Because you wish to go in the direction of friendship, Your conduct is a completely pure conduct. Following one's own lineage, not loving the unholy. Wealth does not reside like dwelling in the defects of the senses. Through the successive joys of what was done before, The holy ones will cause it to increase. Indeed, in various hardships, for what reason do people, In the world, become equal to their friends? Those friends should be fully understood with the mind, For what reason do they not increase their own position? Therefore, whoever obtains wealth in the world, Will certainly unite friends and the Dharma. Those people have obtained the essence of wealth, And in the end, suffering arises from decline.
