May the community wearing yellow pandita hats, become a wish-fulfilling tree of merit for all beings in Jambudvipa. May it be as stable as the sun and moon, dispelling darkness! May Brahma open the door of the pillarless sky, and may you be appointed as the monarch revered by many. May you, the pair of patrons like Indra on earth, share the power and glory with the one with the glorious throat! Especially in this Tibetan snow land, in the vast fish pond where one can dwell for a long time, may the stainless bliss and happiness like Muktika, be piled up greatly and strung into a thread of liberation! May all those who extend their hands to bestow the good fruits of union, belong to the agents of liberation shown here. May sin and one's own lineage, which turn away from clinging, not coexist even slightly! May the compassion of the Victorious Ones, which enters all without near or far, crush the thick darkness of the decline of existence and peace, and in the joyful garden of white lotuses of benefit and happiness, with the praise of the Three Jewels and the songs of young, intelligent bees, may all beings obtain the merit of the King of Timely Knowledge, may there be auspiciousness! Thus, the profound and vast boundless liberation of our teacher, Shakyamuni, is the domain of the Buddhas alone. However, to suit the minds of those to be tamed, taking what is said in the Sutras and Vinaya as प्रमाण (pramāṇa, प्रमाण, pramāṇa, proof),the great scholars of the noble land, the teacher Hero wrote thirty-four Jataka tales, the teacher Lion Subordinate wrote thirty-five Jataka tales, the wise Chandragomin wrote "The Play that Delights the Whole World," the glorious Delightful God wrote "The Play that Delights the Nagas," the Dharma King Gewang and his sons wrote "The Wish-Fulfilling Tree Jataka," and so on. In short, among the countless translated treatises by scholars in this land of snow mountains, this "Wish-Fulfilling Tree Jataka" is easy to understand because its subject matter is related to meaning, it is pleasing to the ear because its expression is related to ornamentation, it is easy to punctuate because its sentence structure is related to combination, and it is wonderful because its vocabulary is related to metaphor. It possesses these four characteristics and is therefore perfect. In the Dharma source of Omniscient Buton, it is said that the author of this treatise is the teacher, which is because the identities of the teacher and the king are not contradictory. In reality,

The source of its being a great ruler is: The glorious king's crest minister, The lineage named Wise and Good Lord of Men, Possessing enjoyment like a confident one, Became a ruler endowed with enjoyment. Thus, it comes from the lineage of the lord of men who served as attendants to the glorious kings of the Shakya clan. Moreover, the son of the grandfather named King Sea, known as Ruler Rabsal, who possessed the perfect wealth of both systems, the reason why Dharma King Gewai Wangpo, who was born as his son, composed this treatise is also: Rejoicing the twice-born holy beings, Urging all compositions. Starting from that, Until: Then, the Victorious Bhagavan, Urged in his own dream. As it is shown, this treatise, first urged to write by a Brahmin, In the middle, urged by a friend, Finally, relying on the urging of the Sugata himself, starting from Rabsal, Until the Jataka tales of Shuddhodana, all one hundred and seven were made by the king himself. In order to complete the auspicious number, Gewai Wangpo himself urged his own son, Dawa'i Wangpo, to compose the Riding on Clouds Jataka tale. Therefore, He did these Bodhisattva deeds, These are the one hundred and seven. In order to complete the auspicious number, One is done with great effort. As it is clearly shown, this one hundred and eighth branch, is not in the style of poetic word combinations appearing inverted, making the words unpleasant to the ear and the meaning difficult to understand, but follows only the perfect style of word combinations of the true southern style. Therefore, Those bound by single verses, Followers of the one path, Extremely profound and extremely difficult, Widely praised Victorious One, Has a garland of Jataka tales. As it is said, this single phrase "followers of the one path" directly shows that it is completely in accordance with the southern path, as the great scholar and great translator Jampal Dorje proudly declared, this is an unsurpassed good saying. Furthermore, here in Tibet, many great lamas holding the tenets of both their own and other schools believe that this Jataka tale was composed by the king, therefore it has blessings.
