With the ocean of worldly power, to strive for transcendence, you will not transcend that, how can one escape from the river water? Then it rode on this, to the diligent young deer, the river with waves, holding with compassion as the goal. Do these wounds on your back cause extreme pain? As it spoke, it completely transcended, the remaining waves of the river spoke to it. Then, the Lord of Assemblies rescued that young deer from the river, and closely united and dwelt with the mother whose eyes were filled with joy. Then, kneeling on the ground, wanting to see the young deer, milk flowed from the breasts, and the mother quickly embraced it. It turned its head to the side, its face swaying from sucking milk, licking with tenderness by moving the tip of its tongue. Then, the Bodhisattva, due to complete exhaustion, and the pain of the hoof wounds, exerted effort with the body. In any case, searching for hoof prints and roots, gradually, the path of the deer was completely disrupted. Slowly, soaked in blood, sitting on the ground, the accumulated fatigue was relieved in that moment. This moment, this ruthlessness is prolonged. Even though the mother is there, I have taken you away. Then, the limbs spoke, grieving with compassion, looking at it, it seemed as if it would soon cry. That king also crossed that river, dismounted from the horse with his retinue, and approached that great being with a surprised heart. The Lord of Assemblies also saw that king and said: Seeing the one who should be risen for, fatigue has weakened me. Why did I not rise for you? This is not my disrespect. Then, that king approached with reverence, asked if he was well, and relied on the Lord of Assemblies in this way, saying: Shameless ones holding weapons to harm others, the darkness of craving for enjoyment obscures the eye of wisdom. How can human beasts like us understand the Dharma? Friend of compassion, the capable one of deer, you are to be worshipped. A slave who does not protect the people.

They are not afraid in times of battle, they hold on wanting to protect themselves, they are very skilled at protecting their own retinue, at all times, you surpass the ways of those rulers with your own ways. If many servants are in the midst of battle, what is more amazing for a ruler than to be able to completely protect them? So many deer, you are called the only one, therefore the protection you have made, this is truly amazing. You possess many merits and compassion, while those who lack merits and compassion are small, I liken these people to deer, as if frolicking nearby in order to gain benefits. Relying so obviously, that king asked the leader of the deer: With this diligence of yours that is skilled at benefiting others, what kind of fruition do you want to manifest? The Bodhisattva said: Great king, please listen! In order to realize Buddhahood, my diligence is the supreme among the diligent, even towards the deer, I can do my best, this intention will not change. Just as these deer of mine are enveloped by fear, able to surpass the powerful currents of fear, similarly, may sentient beings pervaded by many afflictions, be able to overcome the suffering waters of samsara. Great king, even with the strength to turn away from diligence, one cannot manifest the fruition one wants to obtain, look! Laziness is accompanied by companions, people cannot move forward. The palm strikes the ground, like a foolish person being submerged by water. Furthermore, even a wise person, if they are lazy at heart and rely on comfort, cannot reach a high place. A boat, if it is not propelled by rowers, cannot reach the other side of the ocean even after a long time. The king said: The leader of the deer spoke very correctly, why? Because being born into a family of pure reputation, and being famous for possessing wealth, even if one obtains the highest wisdom by mastering desires, laziness will not allow the wishes in one's heart to obtain the fruit that arises even once, just like a bow.
