With a face full of thick tears and dripping teardrops, he prostrated to the moon, recounting the words of sacrifice initiated to utterly destroy many sentient beings in any way possible, and conveying the king's command. Then, the Bodhisattva's friends, companions, and relatives spoke thus: This fellow acts in a hypocritical manner, seemingly existing to completely destroy everything, but in reality, he holds a piece of wood. Alas, his bodily actions appear peaceful, like a bound criminal, while his inner actions are impure like a Rakshasa. Alas, for those who are inherently malicious, even if their outward appearance is very calm, their hearts are filled with rough thoughts. Do not easily trust evil people, for even if a water bird stands motionless on the shore, isn't it to kill all the fish that approach? Relying on those who bring suffering also causes those who rely on them to fall into complete delusion, holding pain firmly within. Like snake venom, the poison that arises from a wound ultimately becomes very severe. It is difficult for evil people to tolerate actions that do not conform to their behavior. Therefore, young one, please speak! Should this wood-holder, who is malicious, enjoys eating meat, and has the name of a fruitless Brahmin, be bound and brought here? Or should those who have passed away obtain the power of a protector? The Bodhisattva said: Indeed, but I also had a little anger and obvious hatred arise towards the wood-holder. However, my patience, which holds the cremation method like a stream of water, has calmed all of that. If our lives can nourish the lamas for a long time, then we are meaningful. For those bound by thoughts eager to gain happiness, the appearance of the patient is the driving force forward. Then, the Bodhisattva, riding on the best chariot, followed by the people of his own court who shed tears, came before his father who was in the place of sacrifice, prostrated and prayed: "If you, father, abandon me who seeks life, please regard my body as a sacrificial animal." The lord of the earth said, "I have abandoned you, my son." Hearing this, tears of sorrow fell like raindrops on the moon. No matter how long life may be, it will eventually enter the realm of death. When everything is destined to perish, who would desire life to last? Then, the axe-holder said to those who were performing the sacrifice, "Priests, listen! In the initial offering, the young moon should be killed first, and then these young men." When the axe-holder spoke these words, those young men who raised their heads, like soft branches, were like deer facing a lion. Then, those young men, with palms joined, prayed to the Bodhisattva and remained: "Great saint, possessing a mind worthy of praise, brother full of love for the world, when you remain here, how can we, who are treated heartlessly like livestock, be taken away by the merciless axe-holder?" After that, those brothers heard these words and felt pain in their hearts, so they focused on the samadhi that was fully in accordance with loving-kindness and truth. By the samadhi of possessing a pure mind, like one completely immersed in tranquility. Amazingly, the iron chains, as blue as hungry bellies, that bound those unprotected princes were broken. The king, astonished by the breaking of the chains, had the thought, "What is this?" At that moment, for that axe-holder, a water source filled with water appeared. The earth was obscured, appearing as blue as the throat of the great Ishvara. The flashing light and the wrath of lightning, like an angry Rakshasa, made a great sound.
