It is enough to bring joy. The green grass blocks the passage of young friends. The trees with blooming flowers are connected with bees. The hearts of those with heavy minds due to intense desire. The forest makes the ascetics play to their heart's content. In the future, may the pure and stainless fruits of asceticism abide for a while, for those sages who have meditated on great asceticism. May you never be afraid of the rain of arrows. Seeing faces that are not sacred, that is happiness. Deer gnaw with their teeth, the roots of green grass and young shoots. Bees circle around the trees with blooming flowers, flying madly. Washed by the force of the rushing water, revealing clear roots. The mountain scenery brings happiness to the practitioners. Like the lord of the stars (moon), the birds are with joyful hearts. My water is now connected with them, therefore it is clear. The mountain river, at the time of bathing, the bodies of the yogis. Touching with reverence, as if the hands of the waves want to embrace. Then, influenced by the power of compassion of that great one, four friends appeared. That forest, like a fully ripe wine jar, is full of eyes. Peaceful deer, abundant offerings, and full bellies. Old flax flowers, petals like the tips of branches without light. Eyes like drops of pigeon's blood. They also came to the end of meditation, approached the Bodhisattva, and sat down all around like tamed students. Then, the deer approached, with a gentle and respectful attitude, speaking frankly and going forward, said this to the Bodhisattva. Great sage. For the great self, there is no suffering greater than destruction. Life is separate, it is the source of arising. For beings with bodies, that does not exist. The crow also said this: O Bhagavan, there is no suffering greater than the suffering of being entangled by hunger, which torments the whole body in every way, please look, O noble one. For those who have a sense of shame, hunger controls everything. The mind of a person produces things that should not be done. Knowing good and non-good, secret.

O compassionate one, when will the minds of all beings be filled with thoughts of benefit? Therefore, please tell us how we can temporarily be free from the suffering of hunger. Then, the supreme teacher, who had come from afar, was dwelling at the root of a tree. Supporting himself with his arms, holding bark, with his middle part lowered, a woman named Dhrimi Dhrima, anointed with ghee, with a belly as black as hair, said: "There is no fruit more painful than the extremely hot one other than anger." "One who has the firewood of burning thoughts, by consuming the burning method of anger, does this person burn himself, or does he not burn others? I have a great fruit of method, therefore, please wise one, speak, by what means can this fire of anger be pacified?" The pigeon said: "Desire is the source of all suffering, especially since it takes away the glory of the radiant ones, just as the sun takes away the light of day. The beautiful rays of the moon are not as cool as snow. The fire of desire pervades everything, and there is no happiness for the one with desire. Therefore, holy one, please tell me, speak a little excellently, by what means will the fire of desire no longer burn my mind?" The Bodhisattva said: "Listen to me, concerning the causes of the re-arising of these four kinds of suffering, such as destruction. The wise say that ignorance is the cause of entering this life. In short, when ignorance is cut off, actions also cease. Because that ceases, craving ceases, and because there is no grasping, there is also no birth. Because near-grasping is pacified, existence does not arise from all sides. Because existence ceases, the heavy suffering of birth and so on also goes to peace." Then, those friends again said to the Bodhisattva: "How can this life, which has suffering as its root, be cut off?" The Bodhisattva said: "If you desire to attain the most excellent clarity, for that reason, you who desire peace, do not harm sentient beings, do not engage in unchaste conduct, do not speak falsely, and tame the assembly of senses."

Having thus attained wisdom, by what means can this tree of existence be born? The yogi with knowledge cuts it off from the root. Thereafter, all the friends praised the Bodhisattva, saying, "Well done, well done!" and each returned to his own place. Also, remembering the teachings of that hermit, that deer, like a capable one, ate dry grass, and the leaves of the trees that had fallen by themselves, and juniper, and eye fruits, and dwelt in that mountain forest. The crow also refrained from harming worms and butterflies, and tasted a little from wherever it could, and dwelt abiding in self-sufficiency. The sheathless flower clusters tremble, drinking the wind at the edge of the fragrant forest, and although there is a fire of hunger that is difficult to endure, the snake never eats mice. The turtle dove also eats the ripe ash fruits that have fallen, eating the seeds that are born without delusion, and the heavy essence in the soil. The extremely delicious things enter the throat, and the stainless mind is like yoga, dwelling together in that forest, acting without greed. The four of them also, having completely exhausted the non-virtuous deeds that distinguish the animal realm, in another life, having obtained a human body, while learning, will gradually attain the state of peace.
