The river's water is full and turbid, stirred by the moving fish. The sun and moon no longer appear beautiful, dust makes the mirror lose its shine. All directions become tainted, like a master suffering. On untimely branches, blue-green flowers and pistils emerge. The winds rise with dust, as if the head ornament follows after. Land with and without cause appears, with odors, and thin creatures spread everywhere. The night is filled with smoky stars, and the moon is near setting. The lords of the forest also lose their soft grass, and the cows' milk is exhausted in an instant. Even when it becomes clean, it is filled with burnt offerings, and the sacrificial fire does not burn. Then, seeing various bad omens, the people dwelling on the auspicious rock become suspicious of what this is, and they depart with restless minds. There, those who are very wise realize that the king's destruction is near, and feeling uneasy, they speak thus: Born from hardship and suffering, may it not befall this ruler. Beings rely on the shade of his arms and sleep peacefully. Then, the city goddess with tearful eyes said to the minister Moon: A Brahmin named "Strong Eye" has come to take the head of this king. Therefore, please prevent him by any means. Having said this, she sat down. Then, the minister piled up precious heads and said to the Brahmin Strong Eye: Great Brahmin, what you wish to accomplish, I will accomplish for you, why do you need to see the king? If one can obtain the desired wealth even from a small person, then what is the use of more wealth? If an elephant can quench its thirst with just a handful of water, then why speak of needing the ocean? The Brahmin said: I do not need those fat cows with full udders, shining like white clouds, and with calves. Just a slight shake of the ears, surrounding

I do not desire the assembly of intoxicated elephant kings, nor do I desire ornaments, bright and radiant jewels, and special clothes. Because this is called giving everything, I want to beg for my head from this ruler. The minister said: Noble jewel-like heads, I offer them to you with one-pointed faith. If these are of no use to you, then take my head right now. One who preserves life for the sake of the lord, one who translates the teachings for the sake of the subjects, one who accomplishes for their sake, if those are all done, the Brahmin said: What is the use of saying these things repeatedly? For the sake of accomplishing the task, I need the head of the lord of the land. Then, King Moonlight, with his divine eye, saw the one begging for his head standing outside, and stood up and said to the chief minister as if to a joyful friend: It is enough to say much, because there is no real pursuit, for the sake of crossing the ocean of samsara, those who are pursued by the Bodhisattvas who have become bridges. The other shore is far and difficult to cross, one who wants to cross the ocean, if he destroys the related boat, how can that be called a friend? Therefore, for those who have become friends of the Dharma, for those who follow the Dharma, one should be joyful, one should not become an obstacle to the Dharma. If such a pursuit, does not become the cause of liberation, then how does a Bodhisattva perfect the Paramita of giving? Thinking thus, he took up the sword. This lord of men said to the Brahmin: Brahmin, cut off my head! Thus he spoke without sorrow. Where is the Brahmin's mind, where is there no compassion? Like truly associating with a thug, I thought thus. Holding the sword for the sake of offering, he pondered for a long time, and nestled against the Brahmin's chest as if with shame. Then, that Brahmin said: Surrounded by ministers, friends, and relatives, I alone cannot cut off your head. Therefore, you should be alone. Then, that king vowed painfully

The crowd of people with eyes filled with tears was turned away, and the Brahmin with the sword followed the king to the garden called Jewel Heart. Then, the minister Moon wrote a letter filled with sorrowful sighs, saying: Alas, the headless lord of men, who can truly see him today? The power to perform sacrifices has weakened, just as sacrifices are destroyed by Rakshasas. Today, this land is motionless, and this city appears very impoverished. Like an elephant pulling out a blooming lotus from a pond surrounded by women. Therefore, before hearing of the death of this king of men, I will first offer my life. After thinking in this way, the wise man with the power of meditation, abandoning his own body, became a self-born being. This person, in order to achieve his goal, obtained true happiness, and his actions, as white as moonlight, illuminated all beings. He watched his friends suffer great misfortune, who was the first to obtain the destruction of his body. After that, when the king entered the garden called Jewel Heart, a great cry of lamentation arose from the retinue of his consorts. Entering the garden, the Brahmin said to the king: I cannot strike your neck with a sword while your living body remains as it is. The king said: Brahmin, then bind me to this Champaka tree that always bears flowers. The Brahmin did so. Then, the goddesses dwelling in the garden said to that violent actor: How can you, a sinful one, strike the neck of this friend of beings, the lord of the earth, with a sharp sword? If you cut off the head of the lord of the earth with a cruel heart for no reason, we will also cut off your head with lightning that emits sparks.
