He abandoned his seductive demeanor. After realizing that the gathering of young women had become wondrous, the prince with pure wisdom, although delighted, still placed the flower arrows in the quiver. Because he felt ashamed, he lowered his bow with delight. Thereafter, the Bodhisattva did not find joy in the grove of the consorts. As the sun was about to set, he rode in a chariot, and those women also went home. Then, the Bodhisattva despised the words of seduction and sat upright in the center of the bed. Keeping in mind aging, sickness, and death, he became single-mindedly focused on contemplation. Then, the Pure Abode gods, because the Great Being was feeling weary, began to shake the mothers, causing them to immediately fall asleep and cease speaking. There, some of the women, due to the continuous sound of snoring and breathing, revealed their teeth, and their faces were covered with constantly dripping saliva. Others had their soft lower garments scattered on the ground, completely loosened, revealing their thighs. Pearl necklaces were scattered on their full breasts, and the scattered, unevenly applied sandalwood paste resembled trees in the forest. Still others, with their faces resting on their arms, which were like overturned pots, fell from their seats and slept just like that. The sleep of some women stole the strength from their fingers, and the flute, blue like the pupil of a woman's eye, slipped from their hands, which were separated from their lips, and fell beside the first hole. Seeing those women in various postures, like lotuses pressed by two teeth, it was as if the lamps were laughing at them. Then, the Bodhisattva, disgusted with those young women, arose, went outside, expressed his intention, and said: I wish to completely cross this ocean of existence. To go to the ascetic forest, I am like a prisoner. Therefore, in order to accomplish my determination.

Bring that excellent horse, named White Goose Praise! The attendant, despite King Śuddhodana's previous order, dared not disobey and listened again, saying: So be it! Then, with a sword under his left armpit, he led the excellent horse, named White Goose Praise, and came. Later, that horse ridden by the Bodhisattva, together with the attendant who led the horse, at dawn, with hooves placed in the palms of the yakshas' hands, descended from the sky, approached the hermitage of the great sage Ārāḍa, and remained there. Then, with the radiant splendor of jeweled ornaments, he touched the Bodhisattva's body, and then with a sharp sword, he gradually cut off the hair that was as black and lustrous as a crow's neck. Just as a bright lotus appears in clear water, the radiance of the ornaments was clearly visible, and the attendant, filled with strength, burned by the fire of sorrow, shed tears like pearls. The Bodhisattva said: For those who are devoted to the Dharma or who enter the forest of asceticism, it is not fitting for noble people to suffer. Therefore, go back and convey these words to my father: I am enduring unbearable asceticism, and my body will weaken. Whether I will attain accomplishment or be recognized by those with insight. The attendant replied: So be it! He prostrated to the Bodhisattva, then took the horse and ornaments, and returned to the city in order, reporting the Bodhisattva's experiences to the king. King Śuddhodana, upon hearing this, together with the consorts and retinue, uttered various lamentations. The Bodhisattva, from the divine son who manifested as a hunter, bought two red robes with clothes as beautiful as the moon's rays, and wore them, then step by step went to Ārāḍa's hermitage. Ārāḍa saw the Bodhisattva coming and said: Welcome! Welcome! Then he led him into his leaf hut and made him sit comfortably on the earthen seat.

The previous practitioner spoke thus. Then the Bodhisattva asked him: What is your Dharma like? And how is it realized? I long to see that, please, venerable one, explain it to me. Arada said: Greatly fortunate one, it is worth listening to. Nature and transformation, my birth, aging, and death, are called "Thusness." Nature is the five great elements, ego and abandonment. Transformation is the senses and their objects, hands, feet, speech, excretory organs, genitals, and mind, these fields are called "fields of complete knowledge." Fields of complete knowledge are also called "Thusness," as the wise ones clarify. Whatever has the nature of birth, harm, and death, should be understood as "manifest." Non-manifest is the opposite of that, that is, not understanding, karma and craving should be understood as the cause of samsara. The power residing in the three is not to enter after transcending courage, it is not the union of causes and conditions, but ego, doubt, complete calculation, non-differentiation, non-means, attachment, and manifest fall. Among them, being apart from causes and conditions means acting perversely. I declare, I am the knower, etc., this is ego. Even things without doubt, like a pile of ashes, are seen by a single thing, this should be understood as doubt. Whatever I am, that is mind, intellect, and karma. Any collection, that is I, this is what is said by complete calculation. Non-differentiation refers to the nature of those who are awakened again and those who are not awakened, understanding the difference between these non-self-natured ones, this should be understood as non-differentiation. Reciting "Svāhā (སྭཱཧཱ།,स्वाहा,svāhā,成就,圆满)", telling, burning incense and giving alms, etc., should be understood as non-means. For any object, with wisdom, mind, speech, intellect, and karma, attachment draws near, this is called attachment.
