She said, "This is the mother's son-in-law." The mother said, "If that is so, my daughter, you should not grieve." Then, Norsang approached from all directions and respectfully prostrated to the mother of Delightful. She also kissed the crown of the Bodhisattva's head and auspiciously spoke in this way, combining it excellently: "Now, my daughter, your lineage is of various kinds, like the Ganges River and the ocean, may it never be cut off! Now, therefore, I will tell this story to your daughter's father." She said this clearly, went to the tree, and approached at the appropriate time, saying, "Noble son, if the husband of Delightful has come, what will the noble son do again?" Then, the tree, by moving its eyebrows, spoke with clear anger, "That one who does not belong to the lineage and walks on the wrong path, if I were to see him, full of blood, I would cut him with weapons and throw him in all directions." The mother of Delightful said, "It is unreasonable to think unfavorably of the one who does good." The tree said, "Then speak of what is called doing good." She said, "When Delightful came, she said to me, 'What about it? Having been rescued from the fierce hunter, I was brought to the house of the king's son, and I was served with those enjoyments.'" The tree said, "If that is so, it is indeed doing good for us." Then, knowing that the tree had calmed its anger, she said again, "If you agree, then I will tell the noble son the truth, your son-in-law has indeed come." Furthermore, this is not just in name, the son of the lord of the earth, for my sake, has traveled this difficult path, he has come for my daughter." The tree said, "If this is true for us, then I want to see that son-in-law." Then, she did not let the gatekeeper leave, because Norsang was approaching. The gatekeeper also went and said to the Bodhisattva

Pa. The lord of the non-human beings said, "I wish to see the one who has life." Then, Norzang came near from all directions, respectfully bowed and prostrated to the tree. Then, the lord of the non-human beings, with a slight remnant of anger, gave the word of knowing, and led him to the riverbank, saying to the Bodhisattva, "Young man, this forest that has grown on the land by the riverbank has been destroyed by countless arrows that obscure the vision. If you meet me there every day, I will give you a daughter and wealth." The Bodhisattva listened and agreed, "I will do so," and then took an axe and began to clear the forest with arrows that were pierced by iron hammers. The tree also returned to its own palace. Then, the enchanting woman thought uneasily, "This dense forest is covered with arrows, how will my only beloved clear them all with his gentle hands?" Then, the lord of the gods saw Norzang clearing the arrows and thought, "This Bodhisattva cannot clear all the arrows in one day." So, he summoned the young Yakshas and said, "This Bodhisattva alone cannot clear all the arrows. Now, let those pig-shaped Yakshas with curved fangs and black like clouds of pitch, clear all the arrows in an instant before the sun sets." Then, those young Yakshas agreed, "We will do so," and prostrated to the king of the gods, and then came to the city of the lord of the non-human beings, transforming into the form of pigs, lurking, and began to completely clear the forest of arrows. The great self, for those who follow the benefit of the world, the karma accumulated in countless lifetimes, and urged by the merits that have turned into pain, even the gods will become friends. Then, after those pig-shaped Yakshas had left, the Bodhisattva also came, facing the arrows on the tree.

Then I said, "I completely believe." Then the tree revealed its form, saying, "This youth is powerful." After contemplating again, it granted permission to the Bodhisattva, saying, "Throw these arrows, along with their arrowheads, to the other side of the river. Then plant this large sack of sesame seeds, and please return before then." Having heard this, the Bodhisattva began to throw the arrows to the other side of the river. Then, through the power of the lord of the gods, a very strong wind suddenly carried the arrows to the other side of the river. Then, the Bodhisattva scattered the sesame seeds in that field and began to gather them again. Then, the lord of the hundred gods, Indra, again sent those young yakshas in the form of ants to collect the sesame seeds. They also collected those sesame seeds, filled the large sack, and remained there. Then, the Bodhisattva, holding the large sack of sesame seeds, showed it to the tree on that very day and remained there. Then, the lord of the Kinnaras thought, "Oh, how wonderful!" and said again, "It is not fitting for my young man to be engaged in the work of ordinary men." So he said, "My sons, along with him, seven palm trees, and also seven iron sows, if the iron targets are pierced, then I will give you the enchanting woman." The Bodhisattva also obtained the method to do so separately, and the king of the Kinnaras erected seven palm trees and seven sows outside the city and remained there. Then, the Bodhisattva, together with all the young Kinnaras holding bows in their hands, followed with their father and retinue, and went to the place of archery. The retinue, on the arranged seats, near the tree, beforehand, with sharp arrowheads, again pierced all the iron targets by the noble son. Thinking thus, with tears, the enchanting woman with eyes, was distraught.
