Even more distant. Mundane and sacred Dharma are also even more distant. This is called being mutually more distant. Why are the space between the sky and the earth extremely distant, the other shore and this shore of the ocean extremely distant, and the mountains of the east and west extremely distant? Why are only these three examples taken? If asked why not others, then, this Dharma is the characteristic of discipline, meditation, and wisdom. What is related to the distance of the sky is based on discipline, the sky is like the Dharma of the sacred ones, it is the characteristic of discipline. Being stained or defiled by all non-virtues, therefore the earth is like the Dharma of the non-sacred ones, because it is stained by all impurities. Meditation is like the other shore and this shore of the ocean, the other shore of the ocean is like the Dharma of the characteristic of meditation of the sacred ones, because following and combining with those who rely on it is like water, and the measure of behavior, meditation, is the ultimate destination of behavior. The shore of this shore is like the Dharma of the non-sacred ones, because neither possesses it. Starting from wisdom, the distance between the mountains of the east and west is even more distant. This is called, the mountain of the east is like the Dharma of the characteristic of the sacred ones, just as the rising of the sun depends on it, so too the Dharma of the sacred ones is the place where the sun of wisdom rises. The mountain of the west is like the Dharma of the non-sacred ones, depending on the setting of the sun of wisdom. Hearing these four verses, the son of Sudasa became tamed, because these are verses that are in accordance with one's own situation. No matter how one meets, if one meets with a virtuous friend and reverently attends to them, it is also liberation from suffering, and the power of associating with the sacred ones. These two Dharmas, sacred and non-sacred, are also extremely long, like the distance between the sky and the earth. Combine this with the verse "The distance between the sky and the earth is also distant." No need to be intimate. As shown above, having said this, it also shows that associating with the non-sacred also does not require intimacy, why be intimate with the non-sacred

If needed, is it because one does not associate with the non-holy? Therefore, the saying "The Dharma of the holy and the non-holy are extremely distant" was composed. To show that the Dharma of the holy and the non-holy are far apart, even associating with the holy is a long time, so the verse "Your verses are beautiful" was spoken. Extremely clearly, whatever is a word of meaning of the holy, its meaning is also extremely clearly holy. Word refers to the body. Meaning that is extremely clearly holy refers to life. Verse refers to pride. Beautiful refers to adornment, therefore, the beauty possessed in these four ways is revealed. Considering the listener, what is heard, and the fruit of hearing, the verse "Your verses are beautiful" was spoken. From whom is it heard? From the Bodhisattva. What is heard? Beautiful poetry with four qualities. Who listens? The son of Sudasa. What is the fruit of hearing? Becoming joyful after hearing. Accompanied by its fruit is giving the excellent, that is, requesting the excellent. Because I have become joyful, I cannot give the excellent just like that, why is that? Because I have also become without autonomy. How is it without autonomy? Because I am defeated by the joy brought about by unreasonable actions, and I indulge in unwholesome actions. Fault is sin. Do not speak to me like that! What is revealed is, for the time being, let go of what should be given, I am referring to myself. Because it is accompanied by faults, and requests the excellence of asceticism with truth, if truth precedes everything, then other excellent things can also be given, in order to definitely give other excellent things. "For sentient beings, abandon killing!" refers to returning from killing. "Release all these imprisoned people!"
