Thinking, 'What is this?' they gathered there with the king, as if their eyes were attached to it, and discussed what it was. Then the king took the fruit and had it examined by those who believed it was ripe, saying, 'I myself will taste it.' Then, because of the wondrous taste, the king was greatly astonished. Like a specially prepared excellent quality, like a wondrous, supreme taste. Because of the unprecedented color and pure fragrance, he was greatly amazed by it. Because of his attachment to its taste, he became very strange. Then, even though the king's food was delicious and abundant, because of his attachment to its taste, he thought to himself: 'What fruit of the kingdom does he eat, who has not eaten these fruits? Even without the toil of governing the kingdom, to eat such a fruit, that is truly a king.' Then he thought to search for where the fruit came from, and speculated with his own wisdom: 'The excellent tree that can grow such a fruit must be not far from here, and it must be on the bank of a river.' If asked how this is evident, it is because the color, fragrance, and taste of this fruit have not disappeared, and it has no scars or damage, and it seems as if it has not been long since it fell into the water. Therefore, thinking that he might be able to know where this fruit came from, because of his attachment to its taste, he launched a raft into the river, properly arranged guards to protect his sacred palace, and surrounded by a large army that could be mobilized, he went along the bank of that river, until he reached a dense forest, which was filled with wild beasts. Various kinds of pleasant tastes were being experienced. He watched the special beauty and delightful scenery of the forest, and other things that were not specially made. The fierce sound of drums frightened the animals of the forest, and he approached a place near the trees and the forest, which was difficult for the lords of the forest to enter.

That which resembles being weighed down by the water of rain clouds, although it resembles a mountain, it appears like a high mountain peak. Like the king of other trees, it is viewed. The king of the forest was seen by the king from afar. Smelling the fragrance of the ripe saha-kara fruit of the mango tree, even more fragrant and delightful than that, the pleasant aroma rises, smelling the fragrance as if welcoming. Thinking that the tree of that fruit must be this one, he came to the tree. Seeing hundreds of monkeys eating the fruit on the tree, the branches were covered. The king became angry at those monkeys who thwarted his desires. Speaking harshly, he said, "Hit, hit, rob, hail, hit all these bad monkeys!" and commanded his men. Then, the king's men made a great noise to drive away the monkeys. Holding bows and arrows in their hands, they prepared to shoot. Some held stones, sticks, and weapons, and came to the tree like attacking the enemy's city gate. Then, the Bodhisattva saw the king's large army like waves of the sea driven by strong winds, making a great clamor, rushing towards this side. From around that excellent tree, shooting arrows, throwing stones and sticks, it was like hail falling. Many monkeys relied only on making fearful and unpleasant cries. Their faces were gloomy, and they were furious. Looking upwards, staying there, the Bodhisattva saw them, and his heart was filled with great compassion. Feeling fear and dread, abandoning sorrow. Many monkeys were out of breath, and he generated the thought of completely protecting them. Climbing to the top of that great tree, he prepared to jump to a mountain nearby. That mountain was not a place that could be reached with one jump, but that great Bodhisattva, with his extraordinary power, jumped there like a bird flying. That vast land that other monkeys could not reach even with two jumps, that one with the power of jumping, like a bird flying, successfully jumped there with one jump. He generated compassion.

Having reached the summit of that high mountain, he bound my two feet with something that grew longer than the extent of the vine, with firm and solid roots, and jumped again onto that great tree. Because the distance between the two was far and the two feet were bound, the posture was uncomfortable. That great Bodhisattva did not reach the top of the branch of that tree, but he did reach it. Then he grasped that branch tightly, and also stretched the vine very tightly. "Come down from this tree faster than this, fill the monkey troops with my voice." Then, those monkeys, threatened by fear, found a way to escape, and with extremely flustered steps, without hesitation, trampled his body, passed through that vine, and escaped safely.
