菜园（ཚལ་）里对他说：“神去那里是不合适的。那是什么缘故呢？我们的这些身体是能够被吃掉的，是贪恋的处所，而且全部都是令人喜爱的。我们这里什么也不缺少。人们的心也说柔和的虚伪的表面话，隐藏着想要加害的恶劣本性，大多数都是小气、恶毒狡诈的。请您看一看，大多数的鸟和野兽，说和想的是一致的。人里面有一些，精通与此相反的方式。虽然说柔和悦耳的话，但是与意义不相符。商人们为了寻求利益，也会抵押我的财产。即使有缺点和不合适的，即使有需要也没有帮助，因此不要太相信那位神。如果一定非去不可，去了就享受那个湖的受用，应该尽快回来，不应该在那里久留，也不应该打算永远住下去。之后，菩萨秋季来临，月亮、星星和星宿都装饰着没有污垢的时候，许多想去看瓦拉纳西（Varanasi）湖的鹅群，为了想去那里而再三地祈求。因为不忍心拒绝那些鹅，所以被面容姣好的众多鹅围绕着，就像秋天的月亮被云彩围绕一样，去了那里。见到那个大湖的乐趣和光彩，各种各样令人愉悦的陈设，都非常高兴，那些鹅的心，适合居住的功德变得相同。那个湖在那些时候，比如意湖更加令人满意，因此想要长久地居住。他们没有想到如意湖。他们也听到了施予无畏的音声，那里也有许多鸟快乐地居住。因为那个湖的受用而内心非常喜悦，就像在花园里嬉戏一样，享受着受用，感到快乐。之后，被委派守护那些湖的人们，首先在那里

Then the gardener said to him, "It is not appropriate for the deity to go there. What is the reason for that? These bodies of ours are edible, a place of attachment, and all of them are delightful. We lack nothing here. The hearts of people also speak softly, with false pretenses on the surface, concealing the evil nature of wanting to harm, and most are petty, malicious, and cunning. Please take a look, most of the birds and wild animals, what they say and think are consistent. Some among humans are skilled in ways that are contrary to this. Although they speak gentle and pleasant words, they do not match the meaning. Merchants, in order to seek profit, will also mortgage my property. Even if there are flaws and inappropriateness, even if there is a need, it is of no help, therefore do not trust that deity too much. If it is absolutely necessary to go there, go and enjoy the benefits of that lake, and you should return quickly, you should not stay there for a long time, nor should you plan to live there forever. Then, when the Bodhisattva arrived in the autumn season, when the moon, stars, and constellations were adorned with no impurities, many flocks of geese who wanted to see the lake of Varanasi repeatedly requested to go there. Because they could not bear to refuse those geese, they were surrounded by many geese with beautiful faces, like the autumn moon surrounded by clouds, and went there. Seeing the joy and splendor of that great lake, all kinds of delightful arrangements, they were very happy, and the merits of those geese's hearts, suitable for dwelling, became the same. That lake, at those times, was more satisfying than the wish-fulfilling lake, therefore they wanted to live there for a long time. They did not think of the wish-fulfilling lake. They also heard the sound of giving fearlessness, and many birds also lived there happily. Because of the enjoyment of that lake, their hearts were very joyful, and like playing in a garden, they enjoyed the benefits and felt happy. 向国王讲述的偈颂。天上的青色天鹅，有具备功德和美貌的，它们是稀有的。像它们一样的天鹅，翅膀像金色的花瓣一样美丽。脸和脚比纯金还要柔和美丽。身体的尺寸非常大而且完美。被成百上千的天鹅侍从围绕着，像用天上的湖泊来装饰一样，它们就在这里，这样祈求道。然后国王寻找一个以捕捉鸟类为生，以擅长捕捉鸟类而闻名且有成就的人。为了抓住那些鸟，他增加了供养并下达了命令。那个人也按照国王的命令，听从国王的命令，仔细观察了那两只天鹅的住所和活动场所。在那些地方，他秘密地设置了坚固的陷阱。然后，那些天鹅因为坚固而没有怀疑任何危险，非常高兴，心不在焉地游荡和栖息。结果，天鹅之王的双脚被陷阱抓住了。用欺骗的手段，那些聪明的人，对没有怀疑危险的人，放松警惕就会走向毁灭，疏忽大意是毁灭的根源。然后，菩萨心想，如果其他人也像这样遭遇不幸就不好了，于是用特殊的声音宣布说，这个湖泊是危险的。然后，那些天鹅因为天鹅之王被陷阱抓住而心惊胆战，感到恐惧和害怕，发出了不悦耳的嘈杂声，彼此不看，像军队在战场上失败一样，四处逃散。天鹅的首领，名叫美面，没有离开天鹅之王的身边。被慈爱的束缚所束缚的心，甚至不考虑自己的生命。朋友遭遇不幸的悲伤，比失去生命还要痛苦。然后，菩萨对美面说：走吧，走吧，美面，你不应该待在这里。我变成这样了，你的生命有什么用呢？美面说：即使我在这里，也未必一定会死。即使我离开，也不会没有衰老和死亡。在幸福的时候，我总是尊敬您。

Verses spoken to the king. The blue swans of the heavens, possessing qualities and beauty, are rare. Swans like them, with wings as beautiful as golden petals. Their faces and feet are softer and more beautiful than pure gold. The size of their bodies is very large and perfect. Surrounded by hundreds of swan attendants, as if adorned with heavenly lakes, they are here, so they prayed. Then the king sought a man who made a living by catching birds, who was known to be skilled in catching birds and who was accomplished. In order to catch those birds, he increased offerings and issued orders. That person also followed the king's orders, listened to the king's orders, and carefully observed the residence and activity places of those two swans. In those places, he secretly set up strong traps. Then, those swans, because they were strong and did not suspect any danger, were very happy, wandering and dwelling absentmindedly. As a result, the feet of the swan king were caught in the trap. By means of deception, those clever people, to those who do not suspect danger, relaxing vigilance leads to destruction, negligence is the source of destruction. Then, the Bodhisattva thought, it would be bad if others also encountered misfortune like this, so he announced with a special voice that this lake is dangerous. Then, those swans, because the swan king was caught in the trap, were terrified, felt fear and dread, and made unpleasant noises, not looking at each other, scattering in all directions like an army defeated on the battlefield. The leader of the swans, named Beautiful Face, did not leave the side of the swan king. Hearts bound by the bonds of loving-kindness do not even consider their own lives. The sorrow of a friend encountering misfortune is more painful than losing one's life. Then, the Bodhisattva said to Beautiful Face: Go, go, Beautiful Face, you should not stay here. What use is your life to me in this state? Beautiful Face said: Even if I am here, I am not necessarily going to die. Even if I leave, I will not be without old age and death. In times of happiness, I always respect you.
