Having gone from Gabur to the vicinity of the village, the monkey said: What have you stolen by digging with roots? That is lead with garlands of flowers. Beaten with a stick and sent into the mouth of a snake, bound in a thorn bush, may you dwell in your home. Then the Bodhisattva spoke to all of them these words showing gentleness, discipline, patience, and profundity: What is not lost, do you say is lost? Who suspects you of being like this? After enjoying whatever desirable things you wish, do you dwell in your home and make the time of death? Then Indra, the lord of the gods, after those reproaches that were discordant with the enjoyment of desires had subsided and become special, spoke those words, giving rise to reverence and wonder. There he showed his own blazing form to those ascetics and said as if unbearable: Wait a moment. For the sake of obtaining what do you strive in your mind, and for the sake of wanting happiness you have no sleep in your mind. Why do you curse those desires that you want to obtain through ascetic effort? The Bodhisattva said: Friend, desire is an endless fault, and if you examine it, then the Sugatas do not indulge in desire, listen a little. Because of desire, the world is bound and killed, and one experiences the suffering of sorrow and many fears. Kings are also destroyed because of desire, and in the next life they lose the Dharma and sentient beings fall into hell. Because of what do quarrels quickly arise with friends, because of what do you go on the path of deceit and defilement, fame declines, and in the next life you also experience suffering, the cause of obtaining those is desire. Therefore, superior, middling, and inferior people are also killed by desire in this life and the next. Like an angry poisonous snake that wants to benefit me, the Sugatas do not rely on it. Then Indra, the lord of the gods, thinking that those words were true, manifested praise, and his mind was delighted by the power of those ascetics, and he confessed his faults to them. If you examine, then the qualities are realized as desired. Because of examination, I have hidden the lotus roots here. With these lotus roots, all of you.

Whose conduct is steadfast. The capable one speaks truthfully, Seeing beings and protectors. Having spoken thus, he offered those lotus roots to the Bodhisattva. Thereafter, regarding that great conduct of the Bodhisattva, Gaze spoke with stern words that overwhelmed with majesty: We are not your relatives or friends, you are not a dancer, we are not mockers. Why did the lord of gods kill in particular? Like playing with ascetics. As he spoke thus, the lord of gods, Indra, with great reverence, his face illuminated by the light of his earrings and crown swaying, prostrated with great reverence and begged forgiveness: I am so unstable, the reason for what I did has been stated before. Like a father and teacher, please forgive me. Those whose eyes of knowledge are closed, even equality by nature becomes confused. Please forgive me for benefiting me. Therefore, please do not hold it in your heart. Having begged forgiveness in this way, he immediately disappeared. Therefore, those who taste the bliss of extreme solitude, regard desire as a place of mockery and harm, and are displeased in their hearts. Regarding this, the Bhagavan also prophesied this birth: I and the son of Sharadvati, Maudgalyayana and Kashyapa, and Ananda who does not regress, were brothers at that time. The sister was Utpalavarna, the maidservant was the hunchbacked Uttara, the male servant was the beautiful householder, the yaksha was Mountain Bliss, the elephant driver was Mountain Light, the monkey was the honey-offerer, Indra was the black Charka. The transmission of births is thus. The transmission of the ascetic's birth, the nineteenth. To be renowned for having qualities that one does not possess is like urging on virtuous people, therefore, one should strive to cultivate qualities. That is, like a Bodhisattva, learned, disciplined, of noble lineage, not stingy and generous, not contradicting worldly affairs, skilled in many scriptures and renowned for eloquence, possessing compassion and being generous, pervading all with wealth, an extremely wealthy house
