One who is intensely afflicted by afflictions, Always seeking faultlessness, Humble and with decorum, Observing a faultless life, Living unhappily due to knowing shame. In their situation, not long after, a great forest fire broke out, with a terrifying sound, roaring. Clouds of smoke swirled, flames flickered, and sparks flew everywhere. Those wandering in the forest were frightened, and the dense forests were destroyed. The fire, moved by the wind, spread everywhere. The dancing hands of the flames were beautiful. The sound of the smoke was like a threat. Accompanied by sound, it created fear. The strong wind blew, shaking violently. The grasses of the forest were uneasy, as if facing a great enemy. The fire appeared like a fierce posture. Sparks flew, spreading and burning. Many birds were frightened and scattered. Wild animals fled in terror. In the smoke, the sound of the fire was intense. Therefore, in fear, the forest was like a mute. The fire, driven by the strong wind, spread like a disaster to the dense grass, approaching their nests. Then, the baby birds were terrified, making a noisy and unpleasant sound, not caring for each other, and hurriedly flew away. The Bodhisattva, being weak, with incomplete wings, was unable to fly. The great Bodhisattva, knowing his own strength, was not flustered, and spoke gently to the fire that seemed to come forcefully: "My feet are useless, and I have no wings. My parents have also fled in fear of you. There is nothing here that can be offered to you. Therefore, fire, you should return from here." The great Bodhisattva spoke those words with complete truth: "The grass is dense and dry, a place for birds to dwell, Although the fire is fueled by the wind, Like a waterfall, a great river rushing, a steep gorge, Upon hearing his words, it immediately subsided. In the past, in the midst of the snowy mountains, The tongue of fire in the monastery was driven by the wind and raged, Like a multi-headed serpent suppressed by a mantra, The fire."

It is said that the movement of the tongue is slow and peaceful. Why is this taught? It is said: Like the tides of the ocean that fluctuate violently, like the precepts taught by the Sugata who desires to benefit me, whatever is taught by those who possess the nature of truth, even fire cannot surpass it, therefore one should not abandon the truth. Like that, the words of fully cultivating the truth, even fire cannot surpass, therefore one should strive for the words of truth. One should also praise the qualities of the Tathagata. This is the story of the bird being burned to ashes and then giving birth to young birds, the sixteenth story. Drinking alcohol causes many faults and becomes extremely bad. If virtuous things can prevent other things, what need is there to mention preventing oneself? Like this, a Bodhisattva with great compassion, with a kind heart, who delights in benefiting and bringing happiness to others, who cultivates increasing merit through generosity, taming, and tranquility, etc. It is said that he once became the king of the gods, Indra. Although he possessed the complete happiness of heavenly enjoyment, he did not slacken in his efforts for the sake of the world, driven by compassion. Most of the powerful people in the world, while intoxicated with alcohol, abandon their own interests. Those who have the ability also strive for the benefit of others, and although the king of gods possesses power, he is not intoxicated by it. To sentient beings tormented by many sufferings, he is loving like a close friend. Because he firmly knows the nature of power, he does not forget to act for the benefit of others. Then, as the great being wandered in the human world, with eyes of love and great power, he saw that a king named Friend of All, due to the fault of relying on bad friends, together with his ministers and subjects, delighted in drinking alcohol, and did not regard it as a fault. Seeing that drinking alcohol was a great fault, the great being became displeased with great compassion and thought: Alas! These worlds have become extremely bad and degenerate! If one drinks, at first it is very delicious, but one is foolishly ignorant of the fault, and very well
