Having been protected, those fish became very happy. Just as a human ruler acts according to the Dharma, protecting his subjects without harm. Then, after some time, sentient beings became without merit, and the sons of the gods who send down rain became negligent, so the rain did not fall well. Thus, when the rain did not fall well, the lake, which was full of flowers and white lotuses, was not filled with clear water as before. Then, gradually, spring arrived, and like the sun's rays, which seemed to be slowed down by fatigue and laziness, were sharp and hot, causing the earth to be visibly scorched and burned, followed by a dry wind, which, desiring coolness, seemed to drink the lake dry day by day, until it became like a bubble. In spring, the sun blazes, and the wind that follows the blaze is fierce, and the heat of the earth, like the torment of a plague, dries up the water as if in anger. Then, the Bodhisattva saw that many fish were being watched by crows, not to mention the birds walking by the water, and they were all dejected and unhappy. Looking at those who could move a little, he thought with compassion: Alas, it would be bad if these fish became unfortunate. The water was also decreasing day by day. Like the exhaustion of life and drying up, gathering like rain is now extremely difficult. There is no way to escape, and no one to take them elsewhere. The enemy who delights in our destruction has come today. If this remaining water dries up, even if we wriggle like ghosts without being eaten, I see clearly that the enemies will eat them. What should I do about this? After thinking about it, the great being saw that he could benefit the poor by relying solely on the blessing of truth. He also sighed deeply with compassion and sorrow in his heart, and looking up at the sky, he said: I am extremely poor and do not remember having intentionally killed any living beings. By this truth, may the kings of the gods send down rain and fill the lake! Then, the great being, with the merit of accumulated virtue,

And, by the power of the blessing of truth, and by the power of the gods, nagas, and yakshas who rejoice in it, the embodied beings filled with clouds and water out of season utter a beautiful and profound sound. Adorned with lightning, the vast blue cloud heads shine brightly, like opening their mouths, the tips of the clouds gather together, like holding hands, and black clouds appear. The black clouds are like the shadows of mountains, like measuring the limits of directions, the black cloud heads are like spreading darkness, beautiful in the center of the sky like a mirror. Peacocks are extremely happy, connecting their crests, like praising with beautiful songs and dances, those clouds are like warriors laughing, the continuous deep sound is extremely beautiful. It is like scattering pearl-like rain, the water flows down, the dust is completely calmed, the wind raised by the rain clouds moves, and the earth is filled with a fragrant smell. Although the spring season has arrived, the sunlight has disappeared. The water surrounded by strings of bubbles flows down to the low ponds. The sound of the dragon's drum makes them very happy, the lightning flashes and dances, again and again the golden light shines brightly, radiating light, illuminating all directions. Then, the gray rain falls universally, and the lakes are filled with water. As soon as the rain falls, many birds such as crows fly away. Many fish hope to survive, their wishes are fulfilled, and they are extremely happy. The Bodhisattva is extremely happy in his heart, but he is worried that the rain will stop, so he says to the rain clouds: Rain clouds, utter a deep and stable thunder, do not let the crows be extremely happy. With the light of flashing lightning, let the streams of rain fall like jewels. Indra, the lord of the gods, heard these words, and was greatly amazed in his heart, so he appeared before him and said with joy: Rain clouds, utter a beautiful thunder, and let it fall as full as a gathered vase, this is the powerful, true, and special power of you, the great fish king!
