Is this the king testing me? If I definitely give away this body, isn't it because I'm earnestly thinking about it? Therefore, I think I should test it for a while now. Then, the king was surrounded by a group of ministers, sitting in the court, and called out to the poor people, saying whatever they wanted according to their needs. Then, precious jewels, gold, silver, and various treasures appeared. The ministers in charge of the treasury counted them and opened the containers filled with various clothes. Excellent chariots drawn by various tame mounts were also prepared. Poor people came from all directions, and Indra, the lord of the gods, transformed into an old blind Brahmin and came before the king. Then, the king looked at him with a firm, clear, and peaceful gaze of compassion and love, as if embracing him. The king's attendants asked him what he wanted, and he approached the lord of men, congratulated the king with auspicious words, and then said these words to the king: Holy lord of the land, I have come to pay homage to you. I am old and have not seen anything for a long time. You who have lotus-like eyes, even with only one eye, can accomplish the great deeds of the lord of the world. The Bodhisattva's wishes have been completely fulfilled, so he is extremely happy and joyful. Is this Brahmin telling the truth? Or because he is accustomed to such thoughts, has he accepted this view himself? He had such thoughts in his mind, and he desired to hear the beautiful words of asking for eyes, so he said to the one who was asking for eyes: O chief of Brahmins, who told you to come here to ask me for eyes? It is said that eyes are extremely difficult to give away, what in the world is there that I do not have? Then, Indra, who had transformed into the form of a Brahmin, understood the king's intention and said: It was Indra like Indra who told me to come, and I have come here to ask you for eyes. Please grant me eyes and fulfill my wishes and my expectations. Then, the king mentioned Indra, and by the power of the gods, the Brahmin's eyes...

Born, and went out from hell. Then, by the power of his merit, there, without muddy dirt, he was born from a lotus. White teeth, like a string of pearls, laughed as if mocking the devil. Then, the Bodhisattva I descended from the lotus seat born from the special merit, and went to the Pratyekabuddha, and with great joy in my heart, offered him food. In order to make his heart extremely joyful, that monk soared into the sky. There he rained down burning rain, beautiful like a cloud with lightning. The devil's thoughts did not succeed, and he was extremely disappointed, and his radiance also disappeared. He could not look at him directly, and disappeared with hell. Why is that? Because like this, noble people, even when faced with destruction, do not fear giving, so who would not give if they lived in comfort? Therefore, even threatening misers cannot make them give. It should also be said like this. The story of the birth of the merchant chief, the fourth. Noble people do not shrink from giving for fear of wealth running out. This is also heard: The Bodhisattva is endowed with virtues such as giving, discipline, lineage, taming, learning, wisdom, and humility. With perfect wealth, he is like a god of wealth, giving to all who come suddenly, so the wealth of giving is continuous. In order to benefit the world, he became the lord of giving, a merchant chief. Therefore, he was called "Unsubdued," because he is not subdued by faults such as stinginess. For the sake of desire, he did not hesitate, and became the special cause of generating joy. The poor people saw him, and he was also happy to see the poor people. When beggars begged him, he never said "no," because in his heart, the attachment to wealth was completely eliminated by great compassion. The poor people took the essence of wealth from his house,

Listen, you say why not change this thing that has eyes. A single cause will not accomplish anything, there is no result. What the gods do also depends on other causes and conditions. Therefore, I should not be prevented by you from making great offerings. Then, the ministers said: Divine objects, grains, and jewels, etc., can be given away, but eyes cannot be given away. We have requested this before, so we will not ask you to leave without leaving a divine trace. The king said: What is asked for should be given. What is not wanted, even if given, will not be pleasing. What is carried away by water, what use is water? Therefore, give this thing that is asked for to him. Then, one of the king's great ministers, who was very close and trusted, sent a message of loving kindness, saying to the king: O king, please wait a moment! Some people can only obtain through asceticism, meditation, and great rituals, and some people rely on grand sacrifices to obtain fame and heaven. Having abandoned the kingship that can rival even Indra's enjoyment, what have you seen, and from whom did you learn this ritual of giving eyes? By making sacrifices, one can approach the thirty-three heavens, fame will spread everywhere, and feet are adorned by the light of the king's crown. What do you want to give your eyes for? Then, the king said to the ministers with loving words: Now, striving is not for the sake of obtaining the entire earth, nor for the sake of obtaining heaven, liberation, and fame. This begging is not meaningless, and I strive in this way to save the world. Then, the king carefully took out one eye, as if taking it out from medicine, which was as beautiful and moving as a blue lotus petal, and gave it to the beggar with great joy. Then, the lord of the gods, Indra, somehow caused that eye to be placed in his eye. The king and his entourage saw such a miracle. Then, opening one eye and looking at the beggar, the king's heart was filled with joy.
