He acted as he had said. Considering the path of good rebirths as a wide road, in order to enjoy happiness in this life, he then stayed and practiced in a mountain hermitage with abundant medicinal herbs, suitable for yoga, together with his compliant disciple Mapama. Then, in that mountain hermitage, there was a tigress with a cub. He saw that her behavior had become sluggish due to the suffering of having a cub. Her eyesight had weakened, and her belly was extremely emaciated from hunger. Although the cub was her own child, she looked at it as if it were food. The cub, attached to its mother, was fearless, and when it approached wanting to suckle, the tigress emitted tiger roars and abandoned it like another's child. When the Bodhisattva saw this, although he was steadfast, he was controlled by compassion. Like a tree swaying from an earthquake, he trembled with the suffering of others. Even his own great suffering clearly revealed the nature of compassion. Even the small suffering of others caused him to tremble, how amazing! Then, the Bodhisattva, urgently and loudly, clearly expressed the special nature of speech, and driven by compassion, clearly said to his disciple: Child, child, look at this samsara without merit!

Of Tsang. To benefit others with one's body, not rejoicing is not wise. To cling to one's own happiness and abandon the suffering of others, is that not incompetence? When others suffer, I have no happiness. Knowing I have the ability, why abandon it? Knowing I have the ability, if I abandon it, even if it is a murderous enemy, drowning in suffering, if I abandon them, it is like committing a sin. My mind is like a reed burned by fire. Therefore, the body should be protected, because there is life facing falling off a cliff. Like killing a child to save a tigress, it is better to save her child than the tigress. Furthermore, for those who strive to benefit the world, the Dharma should be taught, for the lazy, joy should be aroused, for the generous, joy should be generated, the hearts of holy beings should be upright, the great army of demons should be subdued, the virtues of the Buddha should be joyfully praised, shame should be generated for striving for one's own benefit, and even the miserly and greedy should be made to feel ashamed. Relying on the supreme vehicle, faith should be generated, for those who are proud of giving, wonder should be aroused, for those who delight in giving, rejoice and praise them, in order to purify the great path to heaven. Even with just the body, to benefit others, when will I be able to do it? Whatever I think, may my aspirations bear fruit. May supreme enlightenment quickly draw near. Not for competition, nor for seeking fame, not for desiring heaven, nor for achieving kingship, I do not write this for obtaining my own supreme bliss, but for accomplishing the benefit of others. Therefore, may I, with this, at the same moment, make clear and accomplish the source of suffering and happiness for the beings of the world, and may I always have this ability. Just as the sun dispels darkness and brings light. Seeing, hearing, remembering, touching, or speaking, in whatever way, whatever benefits beings, may they always be endowed with happiness. Thus, having made a firm resolution to accomplish the benefit of others, even if it means giving up my life, I will be extremely happy, may the steadfast gods be amazed, and I will give up this body from then on. After that, that tigress heard the sound of the Bodhisattva giving up his body, and being amazed, she gave up devouring my child, and then...

Looking with both eyes, after seeing that Bodhisattva's body and life had separated, it immediately approached and began to eat. While it was eating, the student, unable to find meat, returned, thinking, "Where is the Khenpo (Master)?" As he looked around, he saw that Bodhisattva's body and life had separated, and he was being eaten by that tigress. He considered that Bodhisattva's extraordinary behavior to be very amazing, and he let out a sound of sorrow and suffering. Like praising the basis of his virtues, he spoke the words that he thought in his heart: "Alas, pity for the suffering one! The great self has not shaken my happiness. The actions of the holy ones are supreme. It overwhelms the splendor and fame of others. Alas, extremely brave and fearless! Virtues and loving-kindness are supremely revealed. Alas, great merit, my body. It has become a special place worthy of reverence. The nature is peaceful, stable like the earth. Alas, unable to bear the suffering of others! Alas, this perfect hero. Has made my faults widely known. This protector has become one with a protector, now beings do not need to grieve. Even the demons who have been defeated by others, now will surely let out a sigh. Oh, what great fortune, this one has become the refuge of all beings, compassion is extremely great, courage is immeasurable, I pay homage to such a Bodhisattva!" After saying this, he told this matter to those who practice celibacy. Afterwards, the students who were amazed by his actions, as well as the Gandharvas, Yakshas, Nagas, and the lords of the Thirty-Three, rained down garlands, clothes, ornaments, and sandalwood powder, covering the earth with precious and beautiful relics. Therefore, the Bhagavan (Blessed One) in his previous life was also extremely loving to all beings without deception, and became the master of all beings. Therefore, one should have extreme faith in the Buddha Bhagavan. Those who have generated faith should generate joy towards the Buddhas Bhagavan. Therefore, he is the place where we should have faith. It should also be combined in this way. Thus ends.
