Begging is a beautiful act! It is not at all good for the rich to beg from the poor. This body, which has arisen for the sake of the poor, is muscular and very tall, and I myself have a lot, it is not good to beg from you. If you do not understand and cannot even bear the harm of others, how can I bear your harm? Do not beg these from you, beg from me. Therefore, my own flesh should be given as alms. Therefore, please let go of this lack of concern for the obstacles to the Dharma because of your excessive love for me. It is not appropriate for you to do such a thing for my sake. This needs to be considered for a while, how can one prevent giving when one clearly has food and so on? Is it good or if it is not good, what will it become like to do that? Like this, let go of the thoughts here, and if you can follow my friend, you should measure it with reason. Turn your mind away from the wrong path, rejoice and agree, it is good for you to do this, you should not be so unstable. Why? Because wealth is not enjoyed alone, and begging does not come every day. Encountering such begging, even pleasing the gods will not accomplish it. Such begging will also come, and the body will also be exhausted and become an uncomfortable place, and if you hesitate, you will not be able to accomplish it widely, so it should be a superior act of smiling and being fearless. In this way, that king said to his entourage, you should not refute me in that way. After admonishing them with gentle words, he summoned the doctors and cut five veins in his body, saying to those yakshas: Take my body, and also help the Dharma, and I will be very happy, you should do this now. They replied, we will do so. Then, the king's blood, like red sandalwood juice, was cupped in his hands and he began to drink it. That king's body was like gold, those who acted at night were drinking blood, like the peaks of Mount Sumeru surrounded by dense rain clouds in spring. Possessing supreme joy, possessing the Dharma, possessing the qualities of the body, therefore that king, his body was not weakened, his mind was not faint, and the flow of blood did not stop.

did not change. After those yakshas' torment from thirst subsided, they said to the king, "Now, let's be satisfied with this." Although it was a body, the source of much suffering, always doing things that were not pleasing, that king, because the purpose of giving to beggars was fulfilled, became extremely happy and remained consistent. Then, that king, urged by extreme joy, his eyes and the radiance of his face became even brighter, took up a sharp sword, blue in color like the petals of a blue lotus, adorned with the light of vajra jewels, and cut off his own flesh and gave it to them. Rejoicing in giving, again and again, without any pause, the pain of being cut could not be focused on in his mind. The joy brought forth by the sharp sword cutting, like being burned again for a long time, that suffering, like sorrow and fatigue, the feeling that arose in his mind became small. By satisfying those yakshas with his own flesh, he was equally happy. The minds of those yakshas, which were originally of an angry nature, also became gentle and steadfast because of this. Loving the Dharma and being dominated by compassion, giving up his cherished body for the benefit of others, the minds burned by the fire of hatred also became very calm, and their faces also became bright. Then, those yakshas, seeing that the king was striving to cut off his own flesh, and that his face had not changed from the pain of cutting the flesh, and that he remained steadfast in that way, became very happy and amazed. "Emaho! What are these wondrous sights? Are they true or false?" They pondered, and joy arose in their hearts. The unbearable pain subsided, and their minds were also calmed, praising him and prostrating to him. They prayed, "You are the body of a deity, please forgive our disturbance, we are also satisfied. Your actions of making beggars happy are truly wonderful, please forgive our amazement." With reverence, they prostrated to the king, extremely joyful, with tears in their faces, and said again, "Because of your reverence, the fame of your name is proclaimed by people like thunder. Auspiciousness also abandons the lotus groves and relies on you. Even if Indra becomes the protector, the goddess of the earth
