Those great beings who are tormented by the suffering of others do not consider their own happiness. It is heard that: The greatness of Bodhisattvas lies in their compassion, possessing the extraordinary intention to save all beings. Giving, taming, discipline, and meditation, etc., benefit the world, and their excellent qualities increase manifestly, becoming the embodiment of loving-kindness towards all sentient beings, and are known as the king of the power of loving-kindness. It is said: Whatever the joy and suffering of beings, The king experiences the same. Therefore, he is skilled in protecting beings, And is well-versed in weapons and scriptures. The leader of men keeps the law in mind, His weapons are like ornaments. The teachings of treatises that benefit the world, Are also clearly revealed. In matters of punishment and benefit, He never does anything contrary to the Dharma. Because he is skilled in methods and mindful of benefit, He is like a father who is good at caring for beings. As he governs beings with the Dharma, and dedicates himself entirely to benefiting others with truthfulness, giving, and wisdom, etc., he possesses extraordinary qualities. Through a great sequence, he accumulates the accumulations of enlightenment and causes them to grow manifestly. However, due to some fault, five small groups who are skilled at killing other Yakshas and enjoy plundering essence, were expelled from their territory by the king of the Yakshas and arrived at that place. Seeing that there was no harm in that place, and that it was always full of various joys, possessing the most perfect prosperity, and that people were always very happy and prosperous, they wanted to seize the essence of the people living in that land. They tried their best and began to engage in their own affairs, but they could not seize the essence of the people living there. Because that king had extraordinary power, wherever they placed the thought of "this is mine," that was his best protector, so they could not seize the essence. When they tried so hard but could not seize the essence of anyone living in that land, they looked at each other and said: Friends, what is this?

They thought in their hearts. The power to harm our power, the special qualities of mantras, asceticism, and accomplishments, are not present in them. However, today the names of all of us have not lived up to their meaning. Then the Yakshas transformed into the form of Brahmins and went away. Under a green shade tree, a cowherd who roamed in the forest was sitting with shoes on. He wore a garland of forest tree flowers and leaves. He had placed a staff and an axe on his right side. He was spinning thread alone and singing a spinning song. Seeing this, they approached him and said, "Hey, cowherd, how can you not be afraid alone in such a solitary and desolate place?" He looked at them and said, "Afraid of whom?" The Yakshas said, "Have you not heard before that Rakshasas and demons are by nature fierce and cruel? Those who possess mantras, asceticism, and happiness, even those who live surrounded by friends, even brave men who have no fear, it is very difficult to escape from them. In this extremely quiet and deep forest, in a place of fear where there are no friends, why are you not afraid of the Rakshasas who eat human flesh and drink human oil?" After saying this, the cowherd laughed and said, "When great happiness pervades this world, even the kings of the gods cannot control these things, so how can meat-eaters? Therefore, in the forest, it is like being at home. The night is like the day. Even alone, it is like being among friends. I live without fear." Then those Yakshas were very surprised and, as if to overwhelm him, deliberately said loudly, "Hey, good man, what is the nature of your happiness? Tell us a little." He laughed and said to them, "Listen, what is so wonderful about the difference in our happiness? A chest as broad as a rock of a golden mountain, a face as beautiful as an immaculate autumn moon, arms as thick as golden trees, overwhelming the eyes of the best of human kings, this is the difference in our happiness."
