Having completely abandoned, where does the iron hook of thought point? I abide in this asceticism. Having completely abandoned the enjoyment of happiness and wealth, and my relatives also grieve because of this, those who rely on small causes, I do not go to the ascetic forest that is contrary to happiness. After hearing of your virtues, even a mind like yours has been controlled in that way. If it is permissible to speak to me, then it is appropriate to dispel my doubts. The Bodhisattva said: For what reason do you strive like me, friend, listen. The suffering of being born again and again, the suffering of aging and decay and sickness, and the sentient beings who think of death, in order to protect them, I abide in this way. Then Indra thought: This is not coveting my glory, thinking this he sighed, and was pleased by the well-spoken words, his words were true. Thus generating joy, he made an excellent offering to the Bodhisattva. Here, you have spoken well-spoken words that are in accordance with the ascetic, so I have come, ask you for the excellent offering that you desire. Then the Bodhisattva, not being attached to the happiness of the world, and knowing that begging itself is suffering, and being accustomed to contentment and few desires, said to Indra: The excellent that brings benefit, if you want to give to me, then, to you, the chief of the gods, I will now ask. Even if one obtains a desirable wife, sons, and power, and vast wealth that is greatly desired, but no matter how much one obtains, those whose hearts are tormented cannot be satisfied, may the wind of greed not exist in my heart. Then, because he focused on contentment and spoke well, thus dispelling doubts, Indra's heart became very joyful, praising the Bodhisattva saying "Well done", and again wanted to make an excellent offering. Here, you have spoken well-spoken words that are in accordance with the ascetic and are pleased, just like repaying a gift, I will also give other excellent things. Now the Bodhisattva, feigning to ask for the excellent, in order to show that being free from afflictions is difficult to obtain, therefore he also expounds the Dharma to him. Virtue

You are Indra. If you bestow excellence upon me, then, King of the Gods, sacred supreme one, therefore I also request other things. May any sentient being, like an enemy overwhelmed by power, whose wealth also diminishes, and whose good looks, fame, and happiness also diminish, be without hatred and far from me. When Indra heard this, he was amazed. Praising him respectfully with "Good!", he spoke again: For the renunciate, fame should appear along with attachment. Therefore, please accept this excellence of my well-spoken words. Then, the Bodhisattva, in order to be incompatible with afflictions, feigning to desire excellence, and in order to disparage association with afflicted beings, spoke these words: Children never hear, do not appear, never speak, nor experience the sorrowful suffering of associating with them, I ask you for such excellence. Indra said: Especially for those who have become impoverished, if the holy ones do not give help, because they are in a state of poverty, I do not consider children to be inferior. These children, in particular, are objects of compassion, why is it that even compassionate ones do not like to see them? The Bodhisattva said: Friend, although you cannot, look at this. No matter what you do, you cannot help children. How can we, like this, not strive to help them? Therefore, know that these are not vessels for giving help. These people do what is improper as if it were proper. Furthermore, they want to join with this. Inconsistent with the order of taming and uprightness, even if benefit is shown, it will become very chaotic. The pride of the wise is burned by the fire of ignorance, and even those who speak of benefit become harsh with anger, those who are small in taming and diligence are cunning, tell me, how can they be helped? King of the Gods, therefore, even if one becomes a great compassionate one, one does not like disobedient children, one does not even like to see them. When Indra heard this, he praised him, saying, "Good! Good!", and because he spoke well, his mind became very faithful, and he said again: For the precious jewel of well-spoken words, what value is there?
