被安置于王位。因此，与贤善之人相遇，无论以何种方式相遇，都会变得吉祥，希求吉祥者应当依止贤善之人。诸佛世尊即使对于前世不相识的人，也会慈爱并施予利益。也应当讲述赞叹如来功德。同样，听闻正法，为了变得无过失且具功德，也应当讲述赞叹听闻正法的功德。听闻佛法有如此众多的利益，因此，也应当讲述赞叹广闻的功德。守护真实的誓言，如此贤善之人会欢喜，并且成为福德和名声的来源，因此也应当讲述赞叹守护真实誓言的功德。贤善之人如此不顾自己的生命、安乐和权势，也会守护真实的誓言，也应当将赞叹贤善之人功德与之结合。名为月生的本生故事，第三十一。第十二卷完毕。对于心生厌离的人来说，即使是王位的荣耀也不会成为通往善道的障碍，因此应当习惯于厌离。这又是如何呢？世尊成为菩提萨埵之时，世间有生病、衰老、死亡、与所爱分离等诸多痛苦，见到受苦之人、无依无靠之人、无救护之人、无亲友之人，被慈悲心所驱使，心想救护他们，这是极为善良的本性。对于世间不和谐与无知 之人也有利益，成办这又那样的安乐差别，暂时生于国王的种姓，臣民亲近安乐，圆满具备无纷争的闲暇，诸小国王顶礼膜拜而显赫，权势强大，据说生于喜欢调伏的种姓。据说他最初出生之时，国王的种姓和王宫周围的人们也与他一样，具有安乐而远离痛苦，因此显现。

Therefore, when encountering virtuous people, no matter how one encounters them, it will become auspicious, and those who desire auspiciousness should rely on virtuous people. The Buddhas, the Bhagavat, even to those they did not know in previous lives, show love and bestow benefits. One should also speak of praising the qualities of the Tathagata. Similarly, when listening to the sacred Dharma, in order to become faultless and possess qualities, one should also speak of praising the merit of listening to the sacred Dharma. Since there are so many benefits to hearing the Dharma, one should also speak of praising the merit of extensive learning. Protecting the words of truth, in this way, virtuous people will rejoice and become the source of merit and fame, so one should also speak of praising the merit of protecting the words of truth. Virtuous people, in this way, without regard for their own life, happiness, and power, will protect the words of truth, and the praise of the qualities of virtuous people should also be combined with this. The Jataka of the Moon-born, the thirty-first. The twelfth volume is complete. For those who have become weary of mind, even the glory of kingship will not become an obstacle to the path of goodness, so one should become accustomed to weariness. How is this so? When the Bhagavat became a Bodhisattva, in the world there was sickness, old age, death, separation from loved ones, and many other sufferings. Seeing those who suffer, those who are helpless, those who have no protection, those who have no relatives, driven by compassion, thinking to protect them, this is an extremely virtuous nature. Even for those in the world who are disharmonious and ignorant, there is benefit, accomplishing this and that difference of happiness, temporarily born into the lineage of kings, the people are close to happiness, fully possessing the leisure of no strife, the petty kings prostrate and become famous, powerful, it is said that he was born into a lineage that loves to subdue. It is said that when he was first born, the lineage of the king and the people around the palace were also like him, possessing happiness and free from suffering, therefore it appeared.

He became endowed with great splendor, high and majestic. Brahmins, having received alms, were delighted and indulged. The people were proud and flaunted their fine attire. The sound of many drums echoed from the rocks, filling the valleys. Dances of joy were constant everywhere. Melodious songs and laughter arose in succession. People gathered together, and joy increased in every way. Birds carrying sweet words, and people who were content, praised the king's eminence and sublimity. The gates were opened, and there were no prisoners. Banners were erected at the crossroads of the streets, making them beautiful. The ground was adorned with flower petals and perfumes. The good festival made the city delightful. From the top of the great buildings, gold, silk, and ornaments fell like rain, may these fill this world with glory. Like the Ganges River flowing madly. At that time, all the sons born to that king died. Thinking that this was done by non-humans, in order to protect the son, the birthing chamber was built entirely of iron, a fine house adorned with jewels, gold, and silver. Rituals of mantras to subdue spirits were performed, as well as protective rituals according to the procedures of the Vedas, and auspicious divination was done for well-being. Purification rituals such as the birth ceremony were also performed. That great hero, with his strength, the power of accumulated merit, and well-performed protection, was not overcome by evil spirits. Then, the rituals of gradual upbringing were performed in order. From many learned teachers and lamas, who were of noble lineage, had good conduct, were known for their erudition, were respected, were extremely peaceful, gentle, and possessed the qualities of wisdom, he learned many fields of knowledge. As the radiance of youth increased day by day, the body became complete. Natural gentleness and joy made him and all people a source of great delight. Even those who were far from home, and those who were unfamiliar and unrelated, followed him with joy, all because of his merits and glory. That intensely bright light, making the sky seem to laugh, like the autumn moon.
