Then, the Bodhisattva was amazed and extremely respectful towards him, and with a very joyful mind, came before him and said: The treasure of good speech has been found, the poor have been offered, and my heart is extremely happy because of your kindness. Now that I have come here, I will fulfill your wishes, or for the sake of offering and giving, I will practice the conduct of animals. The son of Sudasa said: The time for me to eat you is still early, the place of burning is still smoking, and meat is delicious when roasted without smoke. Listen to these good words for a while. The Bodhisattva said: Now that you have become so cruel, what good words are there to listen to? Since there is no compassion for beings, what kind of situation can be found for the sake of the stomach? These verses are only speaking of the nature of Dharma, and Dharma and non-Dharma are therefore incompatible. Behavior that is worse than a Rakshasa, completely abandoning the path of the noble ones, what is the point of speaking if there is no truth? What use is hearing to you? After that, the son of Sudasa could not bear the mockery (of the Bodhisattva) and said again: Wait a moment, which king has not killed pitiful animals in the forest, wielding weapons for the sake of amusement? Likewise, if one kills people for survival, that is said to be against the Dharma, but killing animals is not. The Bodhisattva said: Those who chase after fleeing animals and draw their bows, those people do not abide in the Dharma, and are even more despicable than those who eat human flesh. Humans are of noble lineage, so they cannot be eaten. After that, the Bodhisattva mocked the son of Sudasa with harsh words, but by the power of his loving-kindness, he suppressed his angry nature, and as those words entered his ears, he smiled slightly and said: Now I will let you go, go home and enjoy all the pleasures of the king, but since you have come to me, you are not skilled in the principles of the scriptures. The Bodhisattva said: It is not like that, because I do not wish to practice that kind of behavior, that is why I am skilled in the principles of the scriptures. If one were to practice that kind of behavior, the glory of the Dharma would be extremely powerful, and one would quickly achieve happiness, who is more wise than that? Furthermore:

The Way of Reasoning Those whose behavior is steadfast mostly fall into bad destinies after death. Therefore, abandoning the evil path of reasoning, guarding the words of truth, I have come here again. Forsaking falsehood, I speak the truth, therefore I am the wise one in reasoning. Whatever contradicts fame and happiness, the wise say that is not good reasoning. The son of Sudāsa said: Having abandoned the cherished life and the clinging of family tears, and the desirable happiness of kingship, seeing what would make the true word come to fruition, in order to protect it, I have come before you. The Bodhisattva said: Abiding in the merit of truth, there are many special merits, listen briefly. It is distinguished by being adorned with beautiful garlands, and distinguished by being more delicious than all flavors. Practicing asceticism and the ways of non-Buddhists, accumulating merit and virtue without afflictions. Increasing fame that pervades all beings. Truth is the path that transcends the three realms, and it is also the gate to enter the realm of the gods. It is the bridge to liberation from the treasury of samsara. Then the son of Sudāsa praised him, saying: Excellent! Looking with amazement, he also said: If other people were under my control, steadfastness would be lost, and fear and shame would also disappear. You are brave and steadfast, not abandoned by glory, O King, you are like one without fear of death. The Bodhisattva said: Even if one strives greatly, one cannot abide. For what cannot be cured, what benefit is there in frightening and trembling it? Thus, observing the laws of the world, people regret doing evil, and good deeds are not done well, fearing that suffering will arise in the next life, and becoming deluded by the fear of death. What my mind regrets, I do not remember having done at all. I have also diligently practiced white virtuous deeds. Abiding in the Dharma, who fears death? I do not remember at all not having satisfied those poor people who came to beg. Thus, having obtained without satisfying with generosity, abiding in the Dharma, who fears death? Even if I think for a long time, to do evil, I do not even remember thinking about it in my mind. My
