Upon hearing that sound, with eyes blinded by fear, dread, disgust, and ignorance of death, all his limbs trembling violently, he quickly arose and began to flee in haste. There, he entered into a large crowd of people and took refuge, but from behind, hundreds and thousands of creatures chased after him. The large crowd of people surrounded him from all sides and seized him. Having seized him, they began to strike him with slaps, fists, and the like. As he was being beaten, he became exhausted by the force of intense suffering and began to wail, "Venerable Kundga (Ananda), please completely save me! I am without a protector, without a savior, without refuge, without light. Please save my wretched life!" Then, the Venerable Kundga (Ananda) spoke to the large crowd of people, "Wise ones, do not kill him! I will inform King Ajatashatru." Thereafter, the large crowd of people, having heard the words of the Venerable Kundga (Ananda), released him. The Venerable Kundga (Ananda) also went to see the king, and the king asked, "What do you wish to say?" The Venerable Kundga (Ananda) said, "Great King, release him!" The king asked, "I will release him only after he makes a vow. If he ordains in the well-spoken Dharma and Vinaya and serves the Venerable One for as long as he lives, then I will release him." The Venerable Kundga (Ananda) said, "So be it." At that time, the crowd of people beat him mercilessly, and he was overwhelmed by the feeling of intense suffering and collapsed unconscious. The Venerable Kundga (Ananda) said to the venerable Golden Hue, "By the power of the blessing of truth, may the feeling of suffering in the body of Minister Rabtum (Fierce) be completely pacified!" Then, the venerable Golden Hue, with a mind fully engaged in the extraordinary intention to benefit all sentient beings, began to perform the blessing of truth. "By the truth and the words of truth, even though Minister Rabtum (Fierce) has harmed me so greatly, I have not generated even the slightest bit of anger. By that truth and those words of truth, may there be no feeling of suffering in his body, and may he be restored to health!" At the moment of performing the blessing of truth,

Then Napo Rabtum's body was freed from the feeling of suffering, and having become comfortable, he stood up. Having developed great faith in the teachings of the Blessed One, he went to the Venerable Ananda. He prostrated at his feet and said, "Venerable Ananda, I wish to be ordained in the well-spoken Dharma-Vinaya, to receive full ordination, and to obtain the status of a Bhikshu. I wish to practice Brahmacharya in the presence of Venerable Ananda." Then, Venerable Ananda also ordained him. Just as he abandoned all defilements in that very moment and attained the state of an Arhat, Venerable Ananda also taught him accordingly. He also attained the state of an Arhat. He rose into the middle of the sky, and having satisfied the minds of many beings with various miracles, he descended from the middle of the sky. He prostrated in turn to the Venerable Ananda and the Sangha of Bhikshus, and then sat to one side. Then, having seen that wondrous event and the greatness of Venerable Ananda, those attendants developed great faith in Venerable Ananda. Then, seeing that those attendants had so manifestly developed faith, Venerable Ananda taught the Dharma in such a way that countless beings who heard it gained great benefit. Some attained the fruit of Stream-entry, up to the manifestation of Arhatship; some generated the mind of a Shravaka Bodhi, some inclined towards the Buddha, some inclined towards the Dharma, and some inclined towards the Sangha. The captain Nyima and his wife also realized the truth. Then, hundreds of thousands of countless gods, with minds filled with great joy, rained down showers of divine garments and played divine music. Divine flowers such as lotuses, red lotuses, water lilies, white lotuses, and Mandarava flowers, and so on, were scattered in various ways in that great charnel ground, up to the height of the knees. Then, King Ajatashatru, having seen that wondrous miracle that gods and humans greatly desired, developed supreme faith in his mind.

The continuum of the earth became joyful, and especially proclaimed, especially proclaimed. Emaho, how wonderful! Emaho, how marvelous! Emaho, the noble Ananda, fully manifested the greatness of his own qualities. Emaho, clarified the great essence of the Tathagata's teachings. Emaho, the Blessed One, the Tathagata, the Arhat, the perfectly complete Buddha, the knower and seer, and the great elder Kashyapa's entrustment of the teachings to him, all made it fruitful. Emaho, after the sun of the Tathagata set, the sun of the noble Ananda spread in all directions with the net of light of his own qualities. Emaho, after the moon of the Tathagata was swallowed by the non-rational Asura king Rahu, the moon of the noble Ananda radiated the light of his own monastic robes, causing the lotus forest of those to be tamed to grow fully. Emaho, the suffering of separation from the Tathagata, universally tormented by the scorching and rough rays of the sun, the great cloud of the elder Ananda satisfied all the worlds with the rain of his own nectar. Emaho, perfected the intention in the heart of the Tathagata. Emaho, showed the accomplishment of the Tathagata's teachings. Emaho, clarified the preciousness of the Tathagata's teachings. Emaho, made the excellence of the Shravakas fruitful. This is extremely marvelous, and the great power of his own qualities, and the completion of limitless beings, thus greatly accomplished the great essence of the qualities of omniscience. Emaho, this great being showed the wisdom of repaying the kindness of the Blessed One, who is endowed with great compassion. Then, the king, with a mind driven by the force of extreme devotion to the elder Ananda, went to the elder Ananda, and with his whole body prostrated at the two feet of the elder Ananda. Rising, kneeling on both knees, with a body roughened by extreme devotion causing the hairs to stand on end, with hands folded, began to praise the elder Ananda.
