Question: It should be said to be unwholesome and unspecified. Question: Possessing the desire realm, form realm, and formless realm, it should be said to belong to the desire realm. Question: Is it learning, non-learning, or neither learning nor non-learning, it should be said: it is neither learning nor non-learning. Question: Is it abandoned by seeing or by meditation, it should be said to be abandoned by meditation. Question: Is it of body, speech, or mind, it should be said that it is of body, speech, and mind. For the answers to questions, one should only look at what the Blessed One has said, because I have quoted many scriptures, so I have not mentioned them here. These answers to questions, I have incorporated as much as possible into the extensive commentary written by the master, which should be examined, because there are many scriptures, so I have not mentioned them here. What thing itself is doing? etc., thing is meaning. That itself, refers to what is generally said. Doing, refers to particular behavior. Becoming two, refers to the thing becoming two. Does it exist? Refers to can it? Indicating that itself, transgression etc., said, and, is a جمع. Quickly, is fast. The meaning here is, on one basis, like permanence and impermanence, it is impossible to become two contradictory natures, if one knows this, then, on one basis, the occurrence of transgression and non-transgression, what is that, does it exist? Please tell me quickly. This is the meaning here. The determination here is, this refers to the case of hard paving and non-paving, and leaving the place, etc., and that is what was said. Similarly, the scripture here is: Venerable, when the thing itself is doing, it will be transgressed, and when the thing itself is doing, it will not be transgressed, is there such a situation? Answered: When the thing itself is doing, it will be transgressed, and when the thing itself is doing, it will not be transgressed, there is such a situation. Venerable, when the thing itself is doing, it will be transgressed, what is it like? For example, a monk in a place where the hard ground is not paved, holds any amount of unsuitable clothing, or...

Does one enter a village without permission? Does one enter a village without invitation? Does one eat together? If one eats repeatedly, one will commit an offense. How can one avoid committing an offense? For example, how much unsuitable clothing does a monk possess in a place where a hard seat is laid out? Does one enter a village without sewn clothes? Does one enter a village without invitation? Does one eat together? If one eats repeatedly, one will not commit an offense. In that way, using that thing will lead to an offense, and using that thing will not lead to an offense, that is what is said. What basis is without remainder by what, and so on? 'By what' is said in general. 'Without remainder' is because there is no remainder from the monk's possessions here. 'By that itself' is specifically pointed out to clearly understand the basis. 'With remainder' refers to the Sangha remainder and so on. If those are used excessively, the monk's possessions will not disappear, because the four dharmas that lead to defeat are without remainder, while this is with remainder, so it is said. Here is a question: is it possible for one thing, when used excessively, to lead to both defeat and Sangha remainder? The answer here is that it is said considering the case of excessively using a non-common cause of defeat. Similarly, here the text is: Venerable, by what basis does a basis that leads to an offense without remainder also lead to one with remainder? The Blessed One replied: It does. For example, if a bhikkhuni excessively uses a non-common basis for defeat, it will lead to no remainder. If a monk uses it, it will lead to a Sangha remainder, that is what is said. What basis leads to defeat, and so on, is connected to 'by what basis'. What basis is excessively used, that basis itself. Does that basis lead to a Sangha remainder? 'Similarly' is mentioned to show comparison. 'Similarly' means like that. It is connected to 'how does it change', how does it become a downfall of offense?
