There is no fault in making offerings to the Three Jewels. Various water games such as diving into the water should also not be done. If you don't know how to swim, you should learn in a secluded place or follow the doctor's advice. There is no fault in swimming in the water with medicinal rituals. All song tunes should not be sung. There is no fault in chanting tunes when teaching the Dharma, reading texts, and praising the Three Jewels. One who abides in vows should not do it. Among the objects of the ten precepts, six have passed so far. Now it comes to the seventh, explaining that the body should not be anointed with incense. The body should not be anointed with incense, which means that the body should not be anointed or applied with any fragrant perfumes. In order to make the body radiant and fragrant. Clothes and so on should not be anointed. Why? Because these are also the cause of attachment to samsara. Do not apply sandalwood, etc., which means that fragrant mixtures, etc., should not be applied to the body. With turmeric, etc., it means radiance, because turmeric likes yellow, so it should not be used. Various colors should not be painted, meaning colors such as yellow. Flowers, headdresses, garlands, etc., mean any flowers, garlands, etc., strung with threads or wooden strips, should not be worn on the hair, etc. Practitioners should not wear them, meaning those who abide in the precepts should not wear these. With gold, etc., it means not to decorate oneself with rings, earrings, headdresses, armlets, etc. made of gold, silver, etc. Smoke and other eye medicines, meaning not to use eye medicines such as sulfur and cinnabar to prevent eye diseases. Up to this point, seven of the objects of the ten precepts of a novice monk have passed. Now it comes to the eighth, explaining not to sit on a high seat, that is, not to sit on a wooden bed or platform higher than one cubit. Ivory, meaning a bed made of ivory. Etc., meaning jewels, etc. A gorgeously decorated bed, meaning a bed decorated with various jewels and gold and silver, etc. Even if it is low

It says in "Good Saying", a throne adorned with peacock feathers and jewels, etc., even if it is not large, is still sinful even if it is low because it is made of jewels. It is allowed for teaching the Dharma and reciting. One should not sleep on it, etc. It says that when going to the realm of the gods for teaching the Dharma, one should only use jewels, or in a place where one can only use jewels, there is no sin in sleeping or sitting on a throne made of jewels, etc. There is no sin in sitting on a high throne when teaching the Dharma. "Singing and dancing, etc." refers to speaking Bon, telling stories, playing games, and shouting, etc. "The teachings and" refers to wanting singing and dancing, etc. From which arrogance will arise. It says that relying on the things mentioned above, one will become arrogant and haughty. Having abandoned the limbs of arrogance, it says that having abandoned those things that cause arrogance in this way, it is called abiding in discipline. It means abiding in the training or having vows. Up to this point, eight of the ten precepts of a novice monk have passed. Now we come to the ninth, which explains not eating food after noon. From after noon until dawn has not broken, it is not the time. It says that there are three kinds of dawn: blue dawn, yellow dawn, and red dawn. Among them, the standard is when there is no yellow dawn. That is the untimely time spoken of by the Victorious One. It says that from after noon until dawn has not broken, it is not the time to eat food, this is what the Victorious One who has conquered the four maras said. The one who holds vows should not eat there. It says that one who abides in the training should not eat the five foods and five drinks at that untimely time. From dawn to noon, it says, when can one eat? One can eat from dawn to noon. Having eaten at that time, it says, one knows that one has eaten at that time, and one abides in the vows. The opposite of this is not knowing one's own vows. One eats at the time when one should eat. It says that in this way, one can also eat from dawn to noon, it is the time.
