That is about stealing. Also, regarding the object to be stolen, if it can be actually obtained, then it is considered stealing. If the object to be stolen is not obtained, but is obtained by others, this is called "confusion," and even if the value is sufficient, it will not be considered a defeat, but will become a gross offense. The so-called "other person" is a term that distinguishes "my property." Stealing another person's property will result in defeat. If one steals one's own property, even if the value is sufficient, it will not become a gross offense. The so-called "stealing five masha from a place" refers to the place where the property is located. Stealing from the place where the property is located until it is cut off in the middle, and the value is sufficient, will result in defeat. That is also one place, referring to the foundation not being damaged, not mixed with pigments, etc., and without mounds, referring to the same foundation. It will not be judged as a defeat until it is separated by a different time. The so-called "about five masha," if measured according to Indian value, stealing about one silver coin will be considered a defeat. Some people also consider it to be one-eighth of a silver coin, and only when this value is reached will it be considered sufficient. The so-called "originating from one's own place" refers to the fact that even if the value is sufficient, it will be considered incomplete at the time of stealing. Some people combine the fact that the value is incomplete at the time of stealing with scarcity. If the value is complete at a later time, such as in this situation, it will not be judged as a defeat, but as a gross offense. "Stealing a quarter of a karshapana" is similar to the five masha mentioned above. So-called "committing a misdeed at the time of action" refers to the fact that one has already committed a misdeed when one initially intends to steal and rises from the cushion and bed. The so-called "stone, root, fruit, tree," the root refers to turmeric and calamus, etc. The fruit refers to fruits, etc. The tree refers to various kinds of growing trees. Stealing these things, if the value is sufficient, is a defeat, and if the value is insufficient, it is a gross offense. The so-called "trunk, leaf, bark, water," the trunk refers to ghee and medicine pills, etc. The leaf refers to tree leaves and grasslands that are suitable for enjoyment. The bark refers to herbs, etc. Water refers to bathing water and drinking water, etc., such as flowing into the sea and wilderness, and stealing when water is very scarce. The so-called "flowers, aquatic plants, terrestrial plants," flowers refer to lotus and utpala flowers, etc., that grow in water. Terrestrial plants refer to dragon brain incense and magnolia, etc., that grow on land. Fields and crops, land

Regarding fields, it refers to stealing the boundaries of fields. The value is estimated according to the provisions of the national law. Regarding crops, in times of severe drought, one prevents others from watering their fields while watering one's own; in times of heavy rain, one cuts off water from one's own fields and diverts it to others' fields. If one's own crops are good while others' are bad, and the value is sufficient, it is judged as defeat; if it is insufficient, it is judged as a gross offense. If it does not benefit either party's crops, but one thinks one can take advantage, and thus the thought of stealing fields arises, then the other party will commit a gross offense. There are two ways to steal fields: by encroaching through gambling and by enclosing with fences. If a Bhikshu gambles in a dispute or before an official, and the Bhikshu is judged to have won, even if a layman abandons the idea of encroachment, it is judged as defeat; if the idea of encroachment is not abandoned, it is judged as a gross offense. If the king judges the victory, then the local chief immediately judges it as defeat after the victory is judged. Enclosing with fences refers to surrounding the field with fences and trenches, etc. Before dawn, it is judged as a gross offense; if the enclosure is completed, it is judged as defeat. Land is like houses and trading places. If a Bhikshu steals like a ruler, and the value is sufficient, it is judged as defeat; if it is insufficient, it is judged as a gross offense. Boats, trees, and road junctions, etc., refer to a Bhikshu wanting to steal a boat and going upstream. If the boat exceeds the docking position, it is judged as defeat. Holding a rope and going downstream, if one cuts off the curved places, cliffs, and riverbanks, it is judged as a gross offense. If the boat is not visible, it is judged as defeat. If one steals directly and reaches the dry land on the other side, it is judged as defeat. If one hides the boat in the mud and underground, as long as the boat is not visible, it is judged as defeat. Trees refer to edible trees, flower trees, and shade trees, etc. If the value is sufficient, it is judged as defeat. Small roads and road junctions, etc., refer to what the law does not allow to be given. Except for firewood that can be burned, if other Bhikshus take it away, or tell other people about it, without giving the junction, and the estimated value is sufficient, it is judged as defeat. Similarly, the seeds of boats, etc., should also be treated in this way. The stealing of creatures without feet, and creatures with many feet and two feet, if an ascetic steals people's property, whether it is property or anything else, as long as one steals with the intention of stealing, if the value is sufficient, one loses the precepts. This is for the sake of people needing to enjoy.
