Thirdly, from that, inviting and requesting to descend, and in between reciting scriptures, if there is no three continuities, then one should recite the verses of that scripture. If one stays in a monastery, one should recite two verses for the sake of the monastery's patron and the deity. All of these should be understood by following them. However, if one sees the support of another deity, what should one do? Strike the cymbals and recite verses there as well. It is said, when entering the deity's mandala, one should strike the cymbals and then be silent, and so on, the verses should be recited. 'And' is to collect everything equally, 'or' is to place words close together. In that, one should abandon separating friends. This shows that one should not speak divisive words. Similarly, one should abandon harsh words, harsh words are unprofitable words. Similarly, one should not speak with faults, for example, saying things like 'You are ordained from the common people,' these should be abandoned. 'And' means that each word that should be abandoned should be connected to the meaning. In the Vinaya, isn't it said that doing divisive speech and so on, for a novice monk, it becomes an offense? How does that become a mental offense? Therefore, in the Vinaya of distinctions, it says 'What is said as an offense,' and so on, whatever distinctions of offenses are spoken of in the Vinaya, here as distinctions of offenses, that is in terms of mental offenses, explaining the faults of offenses, but not referring to those that need to be confessed, this is the concluding statement. Therefore, it is not something else, but the offense is something to be blamed, this is shown. In the novice monk's precepts, turning back from false speech is the fourth precept. Pressing juice from fruits and so on, with this, the fifth precept is explained. In that, first, one should show the nature of what causes intoxication, because that is the object of prohibition. In that, there are two types of intoxicants: fruit wine and grain wine. In that, fruit

Now, an explanation of fruit wine: What is called "first made with fruit" refers to using fruits, etc., as ingredients, squeezing out the juice, and thoroughly mixing it, which is fruit wine, as spoken by those who understand intoxicants. To explain its classifications, what is called "difference of grape molasses" refers to grape molasses wine and similar ones, i.e., grape molasses wine is similar; wine made from common sugar and molasses is wine, and wine made from molasses trees as well. Similar to these are coconut wine, etc., and wines made from flowers. Its sound should be understood later. Having thus shown the prepared wine, the self-nature of grain wine, what is called "made from soaking and pressing grains," etc., refers to soaking grains like millet, or any others, with medicines like roots, and after pressing, it becomes grain wine, that is the meaning. The use of the word "ni" is to differentiate from the previous and to indicate another sequence of meaning. In either case, even the best grass, that is, selected grass, even if mixed in small amounts, should not be drunk, that is the summary statement. Why should it not be drunk? The reason is that it intoxicates. Even just selected grass is not allowed, this statement is to avoid excess, because the potency of the substance cannot be fully known. So, why is there a rule that after being intoxicated by prepared wine and mixed wine, one should recover from the state of heedlessness? Its necessity is: Mentioning both grain wine and fruit wine is to explain, etc. What is called grain wine and fruit wine refers to showing these two, and mentioning these two is to show the things. Why is that? To refute millet, etc. Mentioning grain wine and fruit wine is to refute millet, etc., to clarify the intoxicating millet, etc., and to clarify the intoxicating fruits, that is the summary statement. If someone says that even in cases where it does not constitute a root offense, those intoxicants can still be enjoyed. Grain wine and fruit

Because wine is mentioned, things like Kotrava become clear. Therefore, enjoying things that intoxicate, like Kotrava, is part of that side, so who can stop it from becoming intention? The word "and" is for جمع. Why is it said that it will intoxicate? Because it is said, "No harm, no retreat, so it will intoxicate." It should be combined with "to prevent." Saying "will intoxicate" is saying "intoxicate," which is close to the sound of intoxication. No harm and retreat mean that there is no harm to the thing that intoxicates, and that retreating from the thing that intoxicates is called that. To prevent that thing, that's why it's said there, that's the meaning. Those who enjoy it, therefore, will explain. Why say the word of carelessness? Because it is said, "The cause of turning back is carelessness," meaning that turning back again from the place of carelessness, whatever the word of carelessness is, is the cause of turning back, it is close to the cause of the act of turning back, that is the meaning. Because the downfall of intoxication is dwelling in the place of carelessness, using "this is like carelessness is the way of the fruit" to explain dwelling and cause, therefore it shows that turning back is the fruit. Now, using "Who knows intoxication, drinks intoxicating things," etc., to show wrongdoing, the consciousness that thinks it will intoxicate is the consciousness of intoxication, whoever has this consciousness, whoever knows intoxication. Because it should be drunk, so it is drinking, because it will intoxicate is also it, so it is intoxicating drinking. If a monk drinks an intoxicating drink with the thought of intoxication, then that monk will only have wrongdoing. Saying consciousness shows that the basis of learning is mainly consciousness. Is everything like this? Saying intoxication, if intoxicated, that is, will intoxicate, then it will become a complete wrongdoing, that is the meaning. "ཉིད་" is only becoming the fault of wrongdoing.
