If one wishes to obtain the possessions of a Bhikshu, then it should be distributed equally. Does this apply to food and so on, or to the two portions mentioned earlier? The answer is, "food and so on," which includes things like food as the primary item. These are all considered "food and so on." For these, it should be regarded as having only the characteristic of equal distribution as just mentioned. The word "also" here does not only refer to these, but also includes things like the clothes of a deceased renunciate, which are the possessions of the deceased, and these should also be distributed equally. This meaning is what the teacher Yönten Öd (ཡོན་ཏན་འོད།) said: "Shramaneras and Shramanerikas should receive two or three portions, while food should be distributed equally. Those who wish to receive Bhikshuni ordination are also the same. The clothes of the deceased should be suitable for everyone." The meaning of the question is that for Shramaneras and Shramanerikas, the gains after discarding one-third should be given, and food should be distributed equally. Those who wish to receive full ordination, and the Shramanerikas mentioned earlier who wish to receive full ordination, even if they have not received full ordination, should be distributed equally. The belongings of the deceased should also be given to Shramaneras in the same way as to Bhikshus, meaning that those who wish to receive full ordination, because they do not have Dharma robes and do not have the conditions for receiving full ordination, should be understood in this way. If one, two, or three monastics reside in a monastery, are they the owners of the monastery's gains? Or not? To dispel this doubt, it is said, "Whoever resides alone in a monastery," and so on. In whatever monastery, if even one Shramanera resides, the word "also" here includes many people, then the gains of that monastery belong to them, not to the Sangha. To dispel the notion that the gains arising in a monastery belonging to the Sangha can only be controlled by the Sangha and not by individuals, it is said in this way. "Residing" here refers to all times, not just the summer. "Gains" here refers to those of summer or other times, so the monastery...

In some place, if the novice monk's preceptor or the abbot of the monastery dies, or goes to another place, or leaves, so that only one person remains here, then in summer or at other times, if the offerings made by the patron are for him, and not for others, then they should not be divided. Because he himself is the owner of what is obtained there, if something is obtained in summer, he should own it as it is; if something is obtained at other times, he should bless it with a mantra and then own it. If he owns it without blessing it, he will commit a transgression, because all those who come later will become equal shares, so he should share it with them. Otherwise, it will become a transgression, just like things and thoughts. The mantra for that is this: When I dwell alone in this place, if I obtain the robes of the Sangha, this should also be divided by the Sangha; what I have obtained, the Sangha can use, and I should own this robe, from "I should own" to "Bless me to own." If he does so, it can be said that it has been blessed, and it should not be given to others who come. But if he does not do so, it has not been blessed, so he cannot own it. If he owns it, he will commit a transgression. How should the belongings of the deceased be distributed? "When a virtuous person dies, he should be respected." And so on, it is said here: If a virtuous ordained person dies, he should be respected, and after doing so, the deceased's robes and so on should be distributed, otherwise it is not so. Respect means the sound of music and cremating the body, listening to the Dharma is giving, continuously reciting the Three Jewels, and prostrating to the stupa of the monastery. Who has the right to dispose of the deceased's belongings, such as the bowl and the other six things? "Who is the attendant of that patient" and so on, it is said here: The person who becomes the attendant of the virtuous patient is the attendant. What is that? It is said "virtuous person," that is the bowl and the other six things.
