Do not obtain the embrace of others' knees by means other than diligence. Furthermore, do not be artificial, do not flatter, do not be biased, do not measure by gain, and do not desire to acquire by acquisition. What are the characteristics of these? It is explained: To feign conduct for the sake of gain is shown to be artificial. To revile others out of attachment is to measure by gain. Giving little and seeking to gain much, and praising others is bias. To speak flatteringly and sweetly for the sake of gain, the noble ones have said that all of this is flattery. These are just examples, and any other livelihood obtained through wrong means should always be abandoned. Whatever conduct is feigned for the sake of gain, that is artificial. To revile others out of attachment is called measuring by gain, like uncovering others' faults, etc., like pulling backwards, for the sake of acquiring gain. Giving a little food and seeking to acquire much food is desiring to acquire by acquisition. Whatever praise of others is done out of attachment, that is bias, praising for the sake of gain. To speak flatteringly and sweetly for the sake of gain is flattery. Therefore, all of these and other livelihoods obtained through wrong means should always be abandoned, these are just examples spoken by the noble ones. In the commentary on the "Verse Summary of a Novice Monk's Discipline," the prohibition of accepting gold and silver is the completion of the tenth precept. The eighth volume, which is the last. Since it has been said to abandon the signs of a householder, all aspects that are contrary to this should be completely abandoned. Do not wear a loincloth like a householder, and do not wear clothes of the same color or white clothes with variegated patterns. From the mantra of ordination, one should completely abandon the signs of a householder, therefore, in order to completely abandon the signs of a householder, all aspects that are contrary to this should be completely abandoned. Like not wearing a loincloth like a householder, etc., this is just an illustration. Just as a householder wraps a belt around his waist and wears a loincloth, do not do that. Nor is it the same color, meaning do not wear clothes of the same color for the upper and lower garments. Here, "sutra" refers to the texture of the cloth,

So, should I wear all blue Dharma robes? The Blessed One taught: Laypeople wear them like that. Therefore, a bhikkhu should not wear all blue Dharma robes, otherwise it would constitute a serious offense. All red and yellow are the same. Only white is not allowed. This is what is said. Therefore, it should be understood that here it is forbidden for both the lower skirt and the upper garment to be the same color. In short, the same color is also not allowed. It should be connected with the sentence "One should not wear patterned clothes and white lower skirts." If colored clothes are covered on the outside, then it is also allowed to wear white clothes during the day. It is also allowed to spread cushions on the beds, small beds, and grass mats of the Sangha. If you want to wear white clothes, then you should cover them with colored clothes from the outside. It is also allowed to spread cushions on the beds, small beds, or grass mats of the Sangha, which means "it is allowed." There are three dyes for changing the color of clothes: ochre dye, blue, and earth. These three dyes were spoken by the Blessed One for the purpose of changing the color of clothes. The so-called ochre dye refers to the juice of ochre such as bark, leaves, flowers, and fruits. The so-called blue refers to all blue. Therefore, the word "color" is used. If only indigo is mentioned, that is not allowed. In some requests it is said that the color of the water filter should be changed. Scholars believe that this is not allowed, because changing the color will make the water also colored. Therefore, it should not be changed like changing the color of the clothes of utensils. Cinnabar as well as madder, indigo, etc., as well as saffron as well as indigo, red lead, etc., madder and pomegranate peel dyes are not allowed, because these eight are major colors, so they are prohibited. Cinnabar, madder, indigo, saffron, indigo, red lead, madder and pomegranate peel dyes are not allowed, because these eight are major colors, so they are prohibited.
