It should be placed, and it should be known that going to where is not because of that time. If a burp with food occurs, it should be discarded, and one should strive to wash the mouth. If there are two esophagi due to karma, one should swallow as one pleases like an ox owner. If a burp with food occurs, it should be discarded and the mouth should be washed well. If someone has two esophagi like an ox owner due to past karma, they should swallow as they please like an ox owner. Here, the text is from 《ཕྲན་ཚེགས།》 (phran tshegs, Miscellaneous Matters), "The venerable Ox-Owner had a burp with food coming from one esophagus, and swallowed from the other esophagus. When the Blessed One forbade untimely food, the venerable Ox-Owner burped, discarded the burped food, and felt ashamed." The Blessed One said, "Kungawo (कुन्དགའ་བོ།, kun-dga'-bo, Ananda)! Therefore, for those who have two esophagi due to past karma, they may discard it two or three times, wash their mouths, and then swallow the remaining food, and should not regret it." Furthermore, if one dwells in asceticism here, even one day is precious, therefore, for the sick, the doctor's advice is timely, and for the poor, there is no untimely time. Because in the Sugata's teachings, when abiding in vows, even living for one day is extremely rare, therefore, for the sick, the doctor's advice is timely. Here, the text is from 《གླེང་གཞི།》 (gleng gzhi, Basis), "Will the noble one recover by eating untimely food?" The Blessed One said, "If the doctor says so, then देगु (Devanagari: देगु, Romanization: degu, Chinese: देगु) food should be given, and similarly, ball-shaped food, buckwheat food, and all food should be given, and one should not regret it." And "Similarly, will one recover by drinking meat broth untimely?" The Blessed One said, "If the doctor says so, it should be given." And "Similarly, dried stone meat and vegetables made into sweet pastries should also be given, and one should not regret it." Poverty, that is, when a year of famine or remote places occur, such a situation should be understood, and there is no fault in eating, because

When food is obtained, that time is the definition of "it is time." Here, according to the Selbu: Poverty, encountering a disaster year, or living in a monastery, cooking for oneself, or climbing a tree to pick fruit, or shaking branches, or relying on unpleasant northern sounds to use food. Similarly, roots and so on should also be dug out of the ground by oneself, and it is permissible to use them whether it is the right time or not, and there should be no regrets about this. Some books do not have the phrase "whether it is the right time or not." However, living in monasteries and so on is like being sick, and it should be understood through meaning. Good people, regarding the permitted meat and fish, and attachment to harmful, merciless, taste, etc., should completely abandon the mind of seeking, and eat after examining the food that comes in the alms bowl. Good people in the world, that is, those who possess the Dharma of lineage, should examine the food that comes in the alms bowl and then eat it, regarding the meat or fish that is said to be edible. What is the need for the phrase "after examining"? In order to completely abandon the meat of people, snakes, elephants, monkeys, etc., which are forbidden to be eaten. Why do good people say "permitted"? Because what is condemned by good people in the world is also forbidden by the Blessed One, so it is summarized in this way. "Harmful" and so on explain how to eat. Attachment to harmful, merciless, taste, etc., and the phrase "completely seeking," and existence, attachment to harmful, merciless, taste, etc., and the mind of completely seeking, that is, the intermediate words are omitted. Among them, harmful is harming others. Merciless is not being compassionate. Attachment to taste, etc., is attachment to smell, taste, and touch. Completely seeking is doing it oneself. Therefore, one should not be attached to these, and in order to maintain the body, one should eat like medicine. In the "Basis of Medicine," it says: Ananda, therefore, monks should rely on the four types of medicine, namely, those that are suitable for the season, those that are suitable for the portion, those that can be used within seven days, and those that can sustain life.
