Similarly, garlic and other things that are highly reprehensible are also in accordance with the Dharma of being highly reprehensible, so they are consistent with the side of causing intoxication. Regarding the statement that "being with the juice that causes intoxication is among the reprehensible," the basis for this is that it is permissible to rub the bodies of patients and suck on their cheeks. However, what is inherently reprehensible is not allowed even if life is at stake. The venerable Nearsighted said: Although being with the juice that causes intoxication is among the reprehensible, it is also highly reprehensible, because it is the cause of being inherently reprehensible, and it is the cause of completely falling into the four uninterrupted sins and the five kinds of downfalls, and it is the source of all faults. That is also because the one who is skilled in medicine diagnosed and said: Whether it is allowed or not, it cannot be determined by the manifestation of man. The so-called "that is also" refers to leeks, onions, and garlic, etc., because after the doctor's diagnosis, the Blessed One allowed it, so in a secluded place outside the monastery, a house should be built in order to engage in related affairs. A house should be built in an extremely secluded place outside the monastery in order to enter there for the sake of doing things. Those who do not have faith should not be allowed to enter. Furthermore, those monks' mattresses, etc., should never be enjoyed, this is the Buddha's teaching. After the body's odor has disappeared, one should enter the monastery because of the natural state. The Blessed One forbade enjoying on the monks' mattresses, and even if the matter has been completed, one should not enter the monastery in an ordinary state. Only after the odor on the body has disappeared and one has returned to a natural state should one enter the monastery, otherwise it is not allowed. In the commentary on the Novice Monk's Code, the fifth chapter, abandoning things that cause intoxication, is complete. Dancing, singing, and the sound of music, a disciplined person should not do it himself or others. Because this is the cause of attachment to samsara. However, if you do it, you will commit a sin. A novice monk should not do or have others do dancing, singing, and the sound of music, because this is the cause of attachment to samsara.

Therefore, it is so. However, if it is done, it will become a fault. Also, for the sake of offering, do not say to make the sound of music and sing. However, the lords of gods and non-gods touch the dust of the feet, say to make offerings to the Buddha. Even more so, for the sake of offering to the teacher, the ascetic should not be told to dance, sing, and make the sound of music. Then what should be done? One should say to make offerings to the Bhagavan whose feet are touched by the dust of the feet by gods and non-gods. Here, the scripture is, to offer the Bhagavan with a beautiful face. What is specifically excluded is that there is no fault in singing to proclaim the Dharma, and it is the same to proclaim the qualities of the teacher. If one does not know how to sing for the sake of the sacred Dharma, one should go to a secluded place and study well. Thus it is taught that one should sing when proclaiming the Dharma and praising the teacher. If someone does not know how to sing, that ascetic should go to a secluded place and learn to sing only for the sake of speaking the sacred Dharma. Splashing water and so on are similar to playing and so on. Diving like a bird and going far away, as well as jumping up and running, etc., are prohibited because they are the cause of playing. Splashing water, jumping into water, and playing in water, etc., are all forms of playing in water. Similarly, diving like a bird, that is, diving into the bottom of the water and going far away, as well as jumping up and running, etc., should also not be done because they are the cause of playing. Furthermore, if the noble ones laugh, they should not show their teeth, nor should they make a loud noise. One should cover one's mouth well with one's hand or the end of one's Dharma robe to cough. Do not open your mouth and show your teeth, making a loud "haha" laugh. There is no fault in laughing a little, because it has been said to make the complexion bright and to smile. Also, do not open your mouth. But if you cough, you should cover your mouth with your hand or the end of your clothes to cough. The special distinction of floating in water should be explained, swimming in a secluded place for the sake of a doctor's diagnosis or learning is not
