English

That is, for example, just like showing that a woman should be slept with by a man. The so-called medium is what makes a man and a woman have intercourse. Going to other people's houses at night, as well as flirting with the eyes and shaking the body, are also included. Among them, flirting with the eyes is looking askance. Shaking the body is shaking the limbs. The change of those who are tormented by the demon of lust is shaking the body, and shaking the body is a verb. Do not look at women again and again, and never touch the poison of touch. If one is to die by water or fire, one should touch with the consciousness of touching. Do not look at the faces of women again and again. Just as it is said in the scriptures: World Honored One, how should we treat women? Kasyapa, do not look at them. If such a necessity arises, then look once. If one looks at the face of a woman again and again, one will become attached to the appearance, and the fire of lust will be ignited. Looking with complete attachment is completely forbidden. As it is said in the Vinaya: Do not fix your eyes on the realm of women. It is also said in the Sutra of the Seven Unions of Intercourse: Brahmin, here some people claim to be pure Brahmacharis, and they do not engage in intercourse with women in pairs. However, they stare at women and taste their flavor. Therefore, they practice impure conduct, and are incomplete, defective, seductive, and obstructive. They are not liberated from birth, aging, sickness, death, sorrow, weeping, pain, displeasure, and vexation, nor are they liberated from suffering. This is the first Dharma of intercourse, until it is said: Likewise, shaking the body with a woman, playing, and making lewd sounds is the second. A woman anoints, bathes, and massages for herself.

This is called the third. Women, listening to the sound of clothes or ornaments behind a wall or a curtain, and thereby experiencing the taste of it, this is called the fourth. Watching others enjoy and play, possessing the qualities of the five desires, until thereby experiencing the taste of it, this is called the fifth. Wishing to become a lord of gods or humans through my discipline, asceticism, or celibacy, and practicing celibacy with that aspiration, this is called the sixth. Remembering and causing others to remember past laughter, joy, play, and sexual activity, this is called the seventh union of sexual intercourse, and so on. The scriptures say, "Do not touch," because it is said here that women are the poison of touch. If a woman dies from water or fire, in order to save her, one should generate the idea of earth and touch her. If a woman sees an ascetic or a disciplined person and becomes attached, she should not stay there. One should not strike the limbs or vines with stones, etc., for lust is only pacified by impure water. Wherever one sees a woman's asceticism and becomes attached, or an ascetic sees a woman and becomes attached, one should not stay there for long, but should leave quickly. Similarly, one should not strike the vines of the limbs with stones, etc. Here, the scripture says that a monk afflicted by lust destroyed the shape of his limbs with a stone, and then the Blessed One said that if one must strike, there are other ways, but it is acceptable. However, for lust, one should contemplate impurity; for hatred, one should cultivate loving-kindness; for ignorance, one should contemplate dependent origination. Thus it is said in the scriptures. One should not continuously give water to a woman who is drinking water while looking up at the sky. One should not give rice, etc., to a naked woman from one's own hand, nor should one give her heavy loads.

It should not be done like that. For example, when the venerable Kundgawo (ཀུན་དགའ་བོ།) was giving away the leftovers from his alms bowl, he inadvertently gave two handfuls each to two naked young women. He gave one handful to the old woman. The old woman said, "Will the Shākya's son Kundgawo be attracted to me?" If such slander were to occur, it would not be good. Association, speech, and looking with women should be prohibited, and the distinctions should be specifically explained: Teach the Dharma to women with non-attached eyes, and do not stare directly at their faces. Sleeping, sitting, walking, etc., with women should be avoided, and there is no fault if there is a man present. However, if someone is teaching the Dharma to women, then one should occasionally look with non-attached eyes, or teach the Dharma with eyes half-closed, but not by staring directly at their faces. Because repeatedly looking at women's faces will cause the root of clinging to sexual characteristics to be planted in the minds of children, it should be avoided. Similarly, sleeping together with women in the house, sitting together, walking together on the road, having intimate conversations, etc., should be avoided from a great distance, very far away. If such a situation arises and there is a man present, then there is no fault. In the commentary on the "Verses on the Novice's Vows," the third basis of training is completed. Regarding the statement, "If someone, with the intention of claiming to be a superior person (བླ་མ།), says from the human dharma, 'I also have the title of superior person,' if he lies to others and is heard, he should abandon it, except for arrogance." The phrase "If someone" refers to a novice monk. "With the intention of claiming to be a superior person" means with the intention of claiming to be a superior person from the human dharma. "Saying 'superior person' from the human dharma" refers to saying 'superior person' from the human dharma. "That" refers to the superior person himself from the human dharma, and it should be understood definitively, not due to confusion, this is to explain. For example, if one intends to predict the fruit of stream-entry, etc., if one actually predicts that, then one will fall. However, if due to confusion, one intends to predict something else, but predicts something else, then it is minor, this is the concluding statement. Here is the text.
