If the precepts are broken due to falling, then according to the Pratimoksha Sutra, if one slanders an impure person, it will become the root of eleven offenses. How is this to be interpreted? If it is assumed here that impurity is solely due to falling, and therefore, if the precepts are broken due to falling, then slandering that person would contradict the Sanghavasesa. For example, slandering a householder would not result in a Sanghavasesa. It cannot be said that it is because they possess the appearance of a Bhikshu, because it has already been said to be a Dukkrta when a fall occurred previously. Sixth Chapter. If it is thought here that falling is impurity, then at that time it would contradict the statement in the Pratimoksha Sutra, "A pure Bhikshu is without falls." That is not the case, because the Pratimoksha Sutra states that "not having fallen" is its very basis. If it is done that way, then regarding engaging in impure conduct, etc., whoever discusses it, that person is pure, and others are impure, so there is no contradiction. As it has been asked, if a Bhikshu says, "I have engaged in impure conduct," and if one Bhikshu slanders the other three, that is a Sanghavasesa. In the admonition to Bhikshunis, it is also said that if a Bhikshuni who has broken her vows admonishes a Bhikshuni, that is a Patayantika. For someone who has abandoned the precepts, how can there be a fall? Therefore, it is certain that only committing a Parajika will break the vows. Therefore, having precepts means not having committed any of the four Parajikas. Therefore, slandering someone who has fallen is said to be a Sanghavasesa, and when admonishing a Bhikshuni, it is said to be a Patayantika for someone who has broken their vows, so falling does not lead to the breaking of precepts. The ancients did not think so. Purity is said to be for the general public, because here it is recognized that all those who have committed a Parajika are pure. If the Pratimoksha Sutra says, "That is its very basis," then it should also be explained as the basis of a Parajika.
