Or from any ocean, stealing is only considered to have occurred at the very moment when the opposite shore is invisible and the straight stretch disappears from view. In the case of rivers and the like where the opposite shore is visible, stealing only occurs when one reaches the opposite shore. Contrary to the usual course, if a boat is used for transport, stealing occurs when one goes beyond the boat's mooring place. If a boat is used for transport in the opposite direction to the usual course, stealing only occurs when one goes beyond the boat's mooring place. The boat's mooring place is the place where the boat is to be transported to the opposite shore, to the extent that it is to be transported in the opposite direction to the usual course. That is the place where the boat travels, and therefore it is fixed. If there is no boat's mooring place, it should be understood that the established limit is fixed. If one steals with secret mantras, it is considered stealing only when it appears before one's own eyes. If one steals an object with secret mantras, stealing only occurs when that object is seen. If one wears down the upper part of an object, stealing occurs when one goes beyond the upper part of the location. Bodily ornaments are only stolen when they are unfastened. Dice and the like are stolen only when they are in the same place or beyond that place. If one steals by wearing down the upper part of an object, it should be understood that stealing occurs when one goes beyond the upper part of the location. Here, the text states: "In order to wear down goods, from rising from the seat, digging mud, and thinking 'I will steal later,' if the object is complete, one will be defeated. If the object is incomplete, it will become worse." If someone says that because it is said 'I will steal later,' it is unreasonable to consider stealing to have occurred when one goes beyond the upper part of the object's location, beyond water or mud, that is not permissible. Stealing here is related to delivering later, not to the actual stealing. Therefore, 'I will steal later' means 'I will deliver later.' As it is said in the Vinaya Sutra: "The thought of stealing later is acceptance." Ornaments worn on the body are only stolen when they are unfastened. It is definitely established that it is only when they are unfastened that they are moved to another location. Like this, it is worn, not placed, and therefore, stealing occurs here from unfastening what is worn, not by changing the established location.
