Na, that is the reason for not explaining. When another monastery is found, and after using it, one stays in another place, whether it goes up or down, all must be measured for value. At the dwelling place of the Sangha, identifying marks should be set up. Write beautiful words saying, "This is the offering of a great benefactor." On a stacked bed, when a Bhikshu sits, the transgressor is driven away by the sound of the conch shell and falls down. Any Shramanera who has faith, is very respectful to learning, has wisdom, and informs the Sangha, their dwelling is permissible. Bedding made of leather is forbidden in the center of the city, and is only allowed to sit on it briefly in the house of a layman; even there, sleeping is not allowed. At the entrance of the monastery, the use of bear skin is allowed. Leather bedding is not an offense in remote areas. Adorned with wonderful jewels, pearls, etc., precious treasures, with legs made of gold and coral, etc., it is called a large mattress. Sitting on it with thighs, legs stretched out, feet not touching the ground, such a special mattress is also considered a high mattress. These are also strictly forbidden for lay practitioners who observe vows, so why shouldn't they be forbidden for Bhikshus here? Only one person can sit on a small stool, two people can sit on a stable wooden stool. After knowing what is stable and unstable, three or more people can also sit on a wooden stool. After striking the Ghaṇṭā and reporting, or by the person distributing wooden sticks, when distributing the gains, all Bhikshus should be notified. Death and other means of conveying information, the five kinds of Ghaṇṭā such as birds, are allowed for Bhikshus to strike. By lifting it up once completely, wherever it is struck, that indicates death, the bird itself is the first to speak. Wherever it is struck by lifting it twice, that is the second task to be known. One more than that, it is clearly said to be a gathering. Without that, the Ghaṇṭā that causes harm, that is also to let the world know. Cymbals and bells that make sound are to let meditators know. When suddenly entering a monastery, wash both feet outside, shake or wipe, with water or leaves.

So. When approaching the interior, one should prostrate to the one with vows. He should also do what he can for him. One should act towards them in this way. The ascetic should first inquire about the internal rules of the Sangha. He should protect them exactly as the Buddha has said. In the monastery, for the monks, one should not become a harmful person. One should be able to increase merits, and such monks should establish this. All that is to be known is the Thus-gone One who knows. The one with vows should not mention the elder, the lineage name, nor should he mention the place of origin. To the elders, the newly ordained should say "Venerable." The elders should also say "Long-lived" to the newly ordained, and should not address them in any other way. One should make effort to eliminate sleepiness. On the eighth and fourteenth days, one should strike the ghanta and abide. When urine, feces, saliva, nasal mucus, and blood must be discarded, one should make a sound and shake the bell, if one does not wish the discipline to decline. One should not discard them on green grass or in water. Not on clean ground, nor where there are conflicting views. A monk who dwells in comfort day and night should not eat tambola. For the one who teaches the monk's conduct, there is no fault for the sick. One should not eat any fruit that is forbidden as untimely food. Those that are permitted by the wise in the Vinaya, one should briefly partake of. Eye medicine, probes, etc., like those of Nanda, as the Buddha has briefly spoken. Likewise, the monks here should carefully partake of food. Inside the monastery, a monk should not shave his hair and beard. The sick should lay down clothes on clean ground and then shave. For shaving hair, etc., one should allow it in order of seniority. Even if one shaves only a little, one should not cut off the hair of the newly ordained. First the head or mouth, then the cleansing of the nose, then the fingernails and toenails, these are the order of work. Hair should not be shaved with scissors, but it is permitted for the one with vows that if a wound is near a place, it can be cut with a knife. For the sick, having understood, the one skilled in celibacy, with mindfulness in all directions, it is permissible to shave hair, etc.
