The initial blessing was done in this way, The gods, with utmost reverence, The great place of assembly, Adorned the surface of the sky. Around the capital city (Rajgir), On the ground, the gods scattered flowers, Scattering them everywhere from their hands, There, it was beautiful for a long time. When the precious and supreme sacred Dharma, Was like sinking into a swamp of decline, The gods and humans felt worry and fear, By gathering, they refreshed their minds again. Therefore, may this sacred Dharma of the Able One (Shakyamuni Buddha), Become the nourishment for beings, free from the arm of protection, In order to achieve the complete pacification of all suffering, When diligently practicing in samsara for a long time, The radiant head and neck ornaments, And one's own flesh, bones, and blood vessels were given. For the sake of the son and the lovely like a new moon, And the supreme consort and the meaning of immeasurable generosity, May the teachings of the Peaceful Path, attained by the Bliss-Gone One, Before they decline, from all aspects, Abandoning laziness and meaningless downfalls, Diligently strive for the sake of peace. The words of the Bliss-Gone One surpass the words of humans, Any Dharma that is slightly elaborated becomes pleasing and supreme, Through the method of contemplation, the obtained result is irreproachable. Besides this, Visakha also did it, Whatever is incomplete, excessive, or different, Even if the order is said to be reversed from what was said before, May all of that be tolerated with a naturally peaceful mind. Isn't it like a blind person groping on a dangerous path? The monastic discipline of the Bhikshus, in a concise manner, a beautiful garland of flowers is well strung together, May the glory of merit obtained from this, together with sentient beings in samsara, Completely transcend the swamp of desire, and be adorned with all qualities such as faith, In Nirvana, may it also perfect others with thorns. Whoever wishes to abide in stainless morality, And wishes to enter the city of Nirvana, May they always read, recite, and keep in mind, This very meaning of the concise verses. Just as the world is tormented by the suffering of old age, sickness, and death, Just as at some time, the fire of desire burns with joy, Likewise, at that time, may the teachings of the Bliss-Gone One, Which wash away the defilements of the mind-stream, remain like the waters of the Ganges. A concise work on the Vinaya of the noble Sarvastivada school, called "A Garland of Flowers."
