For the sake of increase, this ritual of painting is spoken; may the compassionate one grant it well. In courtyards and mansions, fire should not be lit intentionally; because of need, it should be in accordance with that, and it is considered that firewood should be used entirely. On ground that has been completely purified, fire should not be set; therefore, for the sake of lighting it, the use of a fire-flint is permitted. The elders of the Buddha's assembly, as well as the king and the teacher, and likewise the abbot's commands, whatever is reasonable should not be transgressed. First, here, whatever is slightly neither permitted nor forbidden, whatever is reasonable and in accordance, that may be used without doubt. If it is close to being unreasonable, then those striving in discipline should not use it. This is a condensed version of Dharma and Vinaya, established like a lamp of treatises. If the beginning of the Vinaya or Sutra is not clearly remembered, then the names of the cities where one resides may be spoken as desired. Such as Shravasti, Champa with a dwelling, Varanasi, Vaishali, and what is known as Rajagriha, these should be known as great cities. A householder should be called Anathapindada, a landowner should be called Ishvaravijaya. For women, one should say Saga, and for those who forget, one should speak out. The city is Varanasi, the landowner is either Brahma-datta. If giving temporary ordination to a man or likewise a woman, then what is the practice to be accomplished, what is the initial preparation? If reading and memory are not clear, then the ultimate basis of training is what the capable one has spoken. Initially in Varanasi, when turning the wheel of Dharma, wishing to benefit the five good groups, the Bhagavan spoke the Sutra. Secondly, all of his retinue, including the aggregates such as form, with a single rope of self-grasping, he liberated all bonds. For the sake of the five good groups, clothes are well-cut, suitable and beautiful, with terms such as "round," the training is truly spoken. Just as the pure gods abide, carefully wearing all their clothes, likewise, the capable one has fully spoken to the monks about being "round." The capable one, in this order, also established the basis of training for those who desire gods and liberation, such as Good Giving. At the time of Saga, the boundless, entering the ocean.

As is the order, to whom was the first subduing, who purified the stains of discipline, the great virtuous assembly of the six groups. Possessing wondrous courage, although without weapons, they accomplish, those virtuous great sages. Nanda, Upananda, Channa, Nakula, Chandaka, and Kalodayin, are known as the wise and brave six groups, who protect the Buddha's teachings. Again, those are exceedingly virtuous, highly praised, destroying darkness, however the wise may act, they do not stray from the Vinaya. Whoever becomes a son of the Buddha, their qualities are immeasurable, what is shown here is, the supreme spiritual friend of realization. Not knowing the sins accumulated for a long time, these beings are covered by sleep, whoever shows the excellent Dharma, awakens them by urging them with his hand. Arising from long habituation, with compassion moistening their minds, the deeds of the great beings are, the ten deeds without doubt. Others, the prophecy of enlightenment, and the teaching of the arising of the mind of enlightenment, and the abandonment of the five parts of life, and the perfection of the two supreme ordinations, and the subduing of beings to be tamed by the Buddha, and the performance of the act of prohibition, and the various manifestations of miracles, and going to the abode of the gods, and the explanation of the differences of karma, and the witnessing of the truth of parents, until these are not done, they will not enter into peace.
