It is like clothes that become forfeitable offenses after ten days have passed. After abandoning them, they should be given to those who wish to ordain. A begging bowl that has been dedicated with the vow to give it to a layperson or someone who will become ordained is blameless even if kept for more than ten days. Once dedicated for giving in this way, it is not permissible to later not give it. Those that have not been examined: Begging bowls that are not suitable for dedication and for which mantras cannot be recited are those mentioned by name: mottled and dyed; white and always white; and those that exceed the size of a large begging bowl. These too. If one holds onto something like these for more than ten days, it does not become a forfeitable offense, but a misdeed. Also, being naked is a misdeed. If a begging bowl is not smeared with earth, or even if it is smeared but does not reach the size of a small begging bowl, mantras cannot be recited for it. If ten days pass, it is a misdeed. What is blameless is one small begging bowl. Like a Kupaṭra, it is blameless to hold onto something larger than a small begging bowl that has been vowed. These are the forfeitable offenses related to holding a begging bowl. The forfeitable offenses related to holding a begging bowl are from the Sutra that appears in the Vinaya-vibhaṅga. From here onwards, it explains about inferior begging bowls. Do not desire. A bhikṣu should not desire or be attached to the good property of others. Do not be attached to utensils. Do not be attached to your own utensils, such as the thirteen mentioned by name. Do not hold onto anything you are attached to. Previously, a bhikṣu was attached to his begging bowl, and after dying, he was born as a venomous snake inside the begging bowl. Therefore, it was established that if you are attached to one of your own utensils, you should permanently give the object of attachment to others. If you do not have a begging bowl, then beg. Just as the Sutra says that if you do not have the thirteen utensils, you are allowed to beg, it is blameless to beg even if you do not have a begging bowl. This is for those who have one. If you already have a dedicated begging bowl and then beg and obtain another, it becomes a forfeitable offense, one of the downfall limbs. Patches should be applied up to four times. If the previous begging bowl has been dedicated and exists, and you can use it by applying patches up to four times, if you search for and obtain another begging bowl, it becomes a forfeitable offense. If it is suitable for use. As before, if it is suitable for use, and you have a begging bowl with patches up to four times, but you search for another, it becomes a forfeitable offense.
