It is cut off by... The vessel-place of union. Union refers to that which leads to downfall. Vessel refers to accumulating grease and becoming a cause of downfall. Place refers to a woman and a monastic dwelling in the same house, abiding therein; this is what is meant by abandonment. If the vow is not recited for ten days, it is a minor offense. If the dawn of the eleventh day arrives, it is a downfall. Lying with a woman, from the first instance of lying down, is a minor offense; if a night passes, it is a downfall. Other transformations arising from the passing of a night should be understood similarly. This is the very first dawn. Measuring by dawn, there are three types of dawn: the blue dawn appears first. In the southern continent, when the sun rises and falls upon the Jambu tree, and emerges from the crevices of the Jambu tree, appearing blue due to the light of the Jambu leaves, this is considered the standard of appearance. The red dawn refers to the sun rising above the Jambu tree and the light appearing red. The yellow dawn refers to the sun manifestly appearing in the sky and the light appearing yellow. The latter two dawns are not counted. After the sun has risen, work is not permissible. Originating from and entering into purification and discipline, even if the time of night has passed, it is not measured by dawn; as long as the sun has not risen, work is permissible. Abandonment primarily refers to the thought of ownership. What leads to the downfall of abandonment is that when an object comes into one's possession and is obtained, if one thinks and knows that it is one's own, it leads to the downfall of abandonment. Regarding the wool of clothing: for a monastic, inspected wool includes wool, silk, coarse wool fabric, fine cotton cloth, kapok, ramie, and linen; if the vow is not recited, it is abandoned. Uninspected wool, such as the wool of musk deer, Reu deer, and the clothing of the heavens, does not require the recitation of vows. If these are offered, they are not present. If a piece of clothing comes from elsewhere, with the thought of giving it to another who found it or sending it to someone else, and then offering and placing it, there is no fault even if the vow is not recited. If it is offered for the sake of desiring to renounce, it is the same. If a piece of clothing is found and there is a newly ordained person, with the thought that this clothing can be used as his clothing and utensils, and then offering and placing it, there will be no fault even if the vow is not recited. Inspected clothing is also the same. If a piece of clothing is found, recited with the vow of offering it as one's thirteen utensils, or recited with the vow of surplus clothing, or if one does not need it and gives it back.

It does not become an offense no matter which of these four situations is dedicated to giving to others voluntarily. Here, the lineage is broken. If you find a piece of clothing and consecrate it with mantras after about nine days, if it is not consecrated with mantras within eight days, then those days will not constitute the offense of breaking. If you consecrate it with special mantras, thinking that it is a Khenpo, I have no attachment, and it can also be used for breaking. After it becomes an object to be discarded, when giving it to others, I have no attachment, and it can also be used to confess transgressions. Natural damage is also the same. If a new piece of clothing comes and is found, it has not been touched by mantras for eight or nine days. If a monk is crazy, it doesn't matter how many days have passed, it will not constitute the offense of abandonment. From the day you remember, consecrate the mantra within ten days. With this, other similar things will also be produced. If you find a piece of clothing and do not consecrate it with mantras, it will become the offense of abandonment. From the time you find that piece of clothing that should be abandoned, all other newly found clothes should be abandoned. The seven days that arise together are also the same. Any of those that belong to the seven-day medicine, if the first one found is abandoned, then everything found from then on should be abandoned. Except for different types. Even if there is the offense of abandonment, it is only possessing the utensils. If one piece of clothing found constitutes the offense of abandonment, then from the time that piece of clothing is found, all other newly found clothes must be abandoned, even if it is just a loose patch or thread. A piece smaller than that is not. If you find a piece of clothing, you need to consecrate it with mantras. If it is more than one cubit in circumference and has not been consecrated with mantras, it will constitute the offense of abandonment. If it is less than one cubit, it does not need to be consecrated with mantras. The Sangha is also the same. The property of the Sangha of the ten directions is also acceptable. The property of the Sangha of one area is also acceptable. Disrespecting my three Dharma robes, even if they are separated from the consecration of mantras, will constitute an offense, but the ten directions cannot be abandoned, and one area needs to be abandoned. Not owning it is the focus here. If you find a piece of clothing and it constitutes the offense of abandonment, if that piece of clothing is stolen by thieves, or washed away by water, or disappears, then there is no need to abandon it, but you need to confess the offense. These three are not included in patching and laying down.
