Speaking of gods and nagas by name, no matter who it is, if you say, "He said and did like that," it is a defeat. Gods abide in order with magical powers, and nagas who abide on the earth without magical powers, although belonging to the animal realm, refer to those who have magical powers and are large. Yakshas, like the noble-born, are both great and ordinary. Gandharvas, except for the five, are human gandharvas and those who make music and are reborn among the gods. Non-humans have bodies like humans, heads like horses or snakes, large bellies, short and thick limbs, and a sticky form. Pretas are ghosts. Rakshasas speak rudely to people, like merchants or ruffians, and have barrel-like bodies, round or spherical. It is aimed at those with decaying bodies. Any of these, such as those with decaying bodies mentioned by name, if you say, "He has one that appears from the back of the sutra," it is a defeat. If you say, "I know the five magical powers of Maudgalyayana," it is also a defeat. If you say, "He can make it big, there is something that lives in the hole of the whisk and can turn oil into ghee, I saw it," it is also making it big. Impermanence and other perceptions, from here onwards, explain the guru's dharma, impermanence has twenty kinds, that is, all dharmas are impermanent, suffering, no-self, impurity of food, five lineages of suffering, five aggregates gathering, abandoning sorrow, being free from desire, being conquered by cessation, knowing the time when life is exhausted, knowing impurity, completely giving, completely decaying, completely turning red, completely swelling, completely breaking, completely being eaten, bones turning white, bones connecting, these twenty kinds. No matter which of these twenty kinds, clearly not knowing and not having, but saying that you know and have, this is speaking the guru's dharma, it is a defeat. Dhyana, worldly dhyana has four kinds: investigation, joy, happiness, and equanimity, and saying, "The transcendental dhyana has been achieved," and saying, "Maudgalyayana's dhyana has achieved four kinds: investigation, happiness, joy, and equanimity," it is a defeat. Immeasurable, there are four immeasurables, namely, loving-kindness, compassion, joy, and equanimity, if you say, "I can practice these four," and formlessness, worldly

The fruits of the four dhyanas. Saying that one has achieved the realm of infinite space (nam mkha' mtha' yas 'du mched stengs), the realm of infinite consciousness (rnam shes mtha' yas 'du mched stengs), the realm of nothingness, and the realm of neither perception nor non-perception. And the fruits, the stages of an Arhat, the stream-enterer, the once-returner, the non-returner, whichever of the four Arhats is attained. And the superknowledges, the six superknowledges, namely magical powers and the ear of magical powers, knowing the minds of others, remembering past lives and knowing where one will be born in the future, and the exhaustion of defilements. Whichever of the six is spoken. And the five superknowledges of Mur-dhuk, except for the exhaustion of defilements, which is the same as the names mentioned above, is spoken. And so on, these are superior human qualities. Whichever of these mentioned by name later, if one says that one possesses one, one is defeated. These are called superior human qualities, although Mur-dhuk is mentioned, it is not a superior human quality, but if one says that one possesses it, one is defeated. Coarse conduct refers to holding onto one's own name, eliminating suffering, and is called the name of tranquility. Meditating and dwelling in a secluded place, the mind becomes peaceful, and with regard to latent desire, thinking that one has become detached from desire, that suffering and defilements have been exhausted, if one says that one has become detached from desire, and then because of seeing a woman, desire arises, and one sincerely thinks in one's mind that one has become detached from desire, this is coarse conduct. Five hundred soft ones entered liberation, having received instructions on the path to nirvana from the abbot, diligently meditating in a secluded place, the mind became peaceful, and with regard to latent desire, they talked to each other, saying that they had become detached from desire, and then returning to the city, seeing a woman, arousing latent desire, and saying that they had become detached from desire, they became doubtful, thinking that they had committed a defeat, and therefore it was established. Speaking of such a dharma is no different from not speaking. In order to be understood as an Arhat, when an Arhat dwells in a secluded place, yakshas and nagas will not harm him, just as if they were protecting him, they have done the same to me, he said. And how patrons offer Arhats with beds and food, they have done the same to me, if he said so.
