If one kills a being reborn as a human or animal, there is no grave offense, but a defeat. When questioning, contemplating, or instructing, do not give medicine to the sick. If giving medicine to the sick, one should ask a knowledgeable doctor, and if one does not ask; if the doctor does not instruct, do not give medicine to the sick. If one gives it, what kind of offense is committed will be explained below. A doctor, and the doctor himself, and one who is superior to him, and one who is superior to the doctor, and one who associates with him, and one who constantly associates with the doctor and knows medicine, one should ask them. Giving medicine after asking these three types of people is without offense. It is also the same for those with chronic illnesses. Those with chronic illnesses are constantly tormented by illness, one should ask those who know medicine, and giving medicine to the sick is also without offense. An elderly monk. An elderly monk refers to an elder, and an elder with wisdom. One should ask those who are well-versed in the precepts, experienced, and know how to distinguish between good and bad, and giving medicine to the sick is also without offense. If there is no superior, one can also ask a subordinate. Among these doctors mentioned above, if there are none in order, one should ask the subordinates and give medicine to the sick. Giving beneficial medicine for the sake of death is without omission. For a person suffering from illness, if one thinks that it would be better to die, one should not give medicine that leads to death. If that person dies, one commits a defeat. A nun cut off the hands and feet of a wild man, and the man lived in pain. The nun thought that it would be better and happier to die, so she gave him a medicine called rice juice, causing him to die, therefore the precept was established. Do not help with something that cannot be carried. For a heavy object that requires about ten people to lift, if only about eight people try to carry it, it will collapse because it cannot be supported, so do not join in to help lift it. If one helps, one commits a minor offense. One should do this: if such a situation arises, cooperate with lay people and lift it together. As in the supplement to the sutra, for something that requires about ten people to carry, if there are only eight people, if a situation arises where it cannot be carried, cooperate with lay people and monks, lift and carry it with balanced strength. If one does not do so, one commits a minor offense. One should also do the placing together. As in the supplement to the sutra, when putting down a heavy object that was lifted together, one should also put it down with balanced strength, so that it lands steadily. If one does not do so

If there is a transgression. Like not discarding a ball of thread, winding the thread and increasing it, one does not discard the other, and is held by the hand of another and handed over. If it is not done like that, there is a transgression. Without informing of the breakage and cracking, it is not handed over. If the ball of thread is broken or cracked, then say "the ball of thread is broken," and give it into the hand of another. If it is not done like that, there is a transgression. To be afraid of thieves, one should threaten. If a thief comes to the monastery, then gather together and make a sound, threatening, "Take the alms bowl, hit this thief and books, etc." Drive them away without hitting them with the ghanta (a type of bell) etc. Just without hitting the thief, strike the ghanta etc. and threaten them. Towards the direction of the wind, with a piece of tile filled with earth or ashes. If a thief comes, then from the direction the wind is blowing, throw dust and earth etc., so that it goes into their eyes. Hold a sling. Even if one holds a sling to threaten a thief, there is no fault. Do not offer it to a tired monk. In the past, there were two monks, father and son, who had gone forth. Because the father was old and unable to reach the place where the time-announcing ghanta was struck in the Jotaba monastery, the son supported and helped the father, and as a result, the son died. Therefore, the rule was established that doing so is a transgression. One should be with someone who has support. If one helps a sick or old monk who is unable to walk, then one should provide physical service, such as wiping and massaging the body. Place them in a resting place. If the monk is sick or old and unable to walk, then place them in a resting place and serve them. Take the vessels. If the monk is sick and unable to walk, then I will carry his alms bowl and robes and belongings etc. Even if one cannot go to the dwelling together, one cannot go at the time of food and drink. Accompanying a sick old man, if one cannot reach the time-announcing place in the other's dwelling in front, there is no fault if I go first. Wash the alms bowl. After I arrive at the dwelling first, wash the alms bowl and utensils etc. that the sick person will use later. Place it on the seat. Place the seat that the old man will use later in the appropriate place. Give and receive. If food is distributed, then receive the portion of food that the old man will use later and give and receive it. Check. If there is a need to check coriander etc. in the portion of food that the old man will use later, then check it. If it is time, then take it and go to meet them. When the old man will use it later, but cannot reach the time-announcing place, take the portion of food and go to
