If it is a layman's dispute, the words of the layman should be upheld. If two monks are arguing, the words of the one with virtues and the one who has attained fruits should be upheld. Litigate together with others. If one monk argues with another, and that person says, "Who else was present when the offense occurred?" the Sangha should secretly send a messenger to approach the person who was present. If the two disputants agree, then judge accordingly. If doubt arises, then it is not knowing. If someone drinks grape juice and someone argues that they drank alcohol, because the substance is grape juice, the argument is not valid, but the words about drinking are valid. As promised, do not let this ghost eat it. A monk has committed an offense, and I know the offense, and after confessing, it is purified. Not understanding is not comprehending. If a monk commits any one of the five classes of offenses, and is advised to "Confess," and he says, "I did not do it," and is unwilling to confess, or if asked, "Did you commit an offense?" and answers, "I did," and then asked, "What did you commit?" and answers, "I do not know," then he should be abandoned. After confessing to the Sangha, if he does not know, he should be advised to search and seize. A monk committed an offense, and remembers the offense, and confesses. If he does not remember what he did, the Sangha should use the four karmas of petition and request, until he remembers, and keep it in mind. Searching for its nature is beneficial to it, so search for its nature. Just like the above Sutra, use the karmas of petition and request, until he remembers, keep it in mind, and searching for its nature means not remembering the latter. Until he remembers, let him search. For the act of disparagement, say, "This is an opportunity." Just like later, having committed an offense, until he remembers, some Vinaya holders say that with the karmas of petition and request, until he remembers, judge with a sentence of punishment, adding the seven abandonments, it becomes the eighth. This is what is said. This contradicts the Sutra, so it is not good. The words of the remaining Khenpos are not good. Why is it not good? Because the Sutra's scriptures say that there are only seven abandonments, so even if expelled, he is not expelled, and even if sentenced, he is not sentenced. Because the Sutra spoken by the Buddha says so, the words of the Vinaya holders are not good. It is better than peace, so it is not desired to be separated. Peace means always explaining the search for one's nature.
