Having put on the patched robes, even if afflicted by illness before being sentenced, it should be cared for and treated like when a monk living in common falls ill. Do not be negligent in caring for the sick who live in common; even if there is no one to do the aforementioned nursing, since they are monks living in common, all monks should provide care. The method of how to care will be explained below. If there is no caregiver, one should give to the best of one's ability. If there is no caregiver for a sick person living in common, the monk who is junior in precepts should provide care. If he is not capable or unable, then according to seniority, up to the most senior monk, all the Sangha should provide care. When the patient is about to die or recover, other virtuous deeds should be performed to provide care. Even the Buddha himself wiped and cared for the sick, so it is very reasonable for the Sangha to also provide care out of compassion. Regarding the medicine of the Sangha, it should be considered that it is used only by the sick. The common medicine of the Sangha, it is reasonable for the sick to use and eat, this has been considered. This was not the case before, but for all the Sangha, the monk pharmacists gathered together and distributed the necessary medicines like a family, but the group of six monks, for a sick friend, even those who were not sick took a lot of medicine, then resold and used it, so it was stipulated that it should be used only by the sick. If there is none, the caregiver should beg. If there is no common medicine of the Sangha, who will care for the sick? One should beg and search, and then treat the sick. If it cannot be found, then the Sangha should give. If the caregiver cannot beg for medicine, then goods should be taken from the Sangha's property, and the caregiver should be sent to search. If there is none, even offerings to the Buddha's image can be made. If there is no money in the Sangha's property to give for medicine, even decorations offered to the Buddha's image and other property can be given. For offerings such as drinks and umbrellas, the affairs of the Sangha should be carried out. Search for medicine like searching for leftovers, but if the treatment is ineffective and the patient says that it would be good to perform some virtuous deeds, then umbrellas offered to the Three Jewels and drinks offered to the Sangha and other items should be taken from the Sangha's property and used. If there is none, then like the Buddha's activities, the remaining virtuous

If there are no desired possessions, one may also take from the Buddha's possessions and use them. If one does not die from taking those things and becomes wealthy, repay them. Like those who come later, practice medicine and accumulate merit. If the patient recovers, the patient should say to the attendant: How much was lost from the possessions of the Three Jewels and the Sangha for my sake? I say: Repay the debt of how much wealth I lost. The attendant should not fail to serve. Who should serve the sick Bhikshu? The attendant who is not lazy or negligent should serve with respect and diligence. Do not violate the words of meaning and Dharma. The so-called meaning is when the sick Bhikshu says: I want such medicine and food, and if given, I will recover. The so-called not violating the words of Dharma is that even if one says: Recite letters, etc., accumulate such merit, the attendant should not violate the words, but should give and do. If one asks for an object of attachment, do not refuse. If the patient is attached to my good things and says what he wants, the attendant should take it out, show it, and give it. Do not fail to speak. The attendant should explain to the patient the Four Immeasurables, the Four Dhyanas, and the Eightfold Noble Path, etc., and admonish them to always remember. The patient should not violate his words. Regarding the Dharma explained by the attendant, the patient should also listen and remember as instructed, and not violate the words. If one fears death, one should be lifted from the Sangha's bed and placed on a personal bed. If the sick Bhikshu is seriously ill and fears death, he should be lifted from the Sangha's bed, a personal bed should be laid out, and he should be placed on it. The method of how to move will be explained below. Before the words of anointing and washing, do it with deception. Lifting the patient from the Sangha's bed and placing him on a personal bed, do not say: You are about to die, so you have changed beds, but say: Moving for medicine or washing the body or anointing, and place him on a personal bed. If you do that, be diligent. If the patient is near death and cannot survive, the attendant should not be lazy, but should diligently guard and care for him. If the clothes of the deceased become unclean, they must be washed. If the deceased patient contaminates the bed and clothes, etc., with filth and food, etc., the person who serves must wash them. The Sangha's
