It is permissible to hear in this way through the three means of signs, the words of others, and what I have heard. If the other party engages in impure conduct, if I have heard that it has been investigated in this way according to the sutra, and I refute it, then there is no fault, it should be applied like an accusation. Not believing is not the root. Even if the other party's fault is true, if I do not believe it, then I will not refute it. It is a matter of discipline. If many people know, then it is desired to discuss it, etc. Whether it is a Bhikshu or a Bhikshuni, if something happens that is less than a Sangha's residual offense and more than an offense of wrong-doing, then one comes out from the precepts, and at the time of the Uposatha, if one of the four or five Bhikshus and Bhikshunis or less refutes you, then do not come out from the precepts, and do not do the Uposatha, if one advises in this way, then it is permitted to refute. It is not permitted to refute before or after the precepts. One who does not expel, does not leave. As stated in the previous sutra, it is easy to refute, only on the day of expulsion from the precepts should one refute. It is not so if it is not Uposatha. At the time of Uposatha, one should also refute on the day of Uposatha. When doing or after doing and leaving, if one becomes a woman, or if one is placed with another man, it is not leaving. As stated later, one who refutes, a Bhikshu can refute a Bhikshuni, and it is permissible not to expel from the precepts and Uposatha. A Bhikshuni is not allowed to refute. If the Bhikshu who refutes himself changes his gender and obtains the form of a woman, then he is not allowed to refute. It is not because of the loss of self-nature. If a Bhikshu loses his self-nature, if he is mad or does not remember, refutes the other party, and expels from the precepts, and at the time of Uposatha refutes, and says that you are not allowed to do the precepts and Uposatha, it is not allowed to say so. One who has no precepts, and one who is defiled by any of the four root precepts of a Bhikshu, even if one refutes a virtuous one, and at the time of precepts and Uposatha, one should not respect, one should do precepts and Uposatha and expel. Not only this, if a Bhikshu with wrong views refutes a virtuous Bhikshu, one should not respect, like a fallen one, it is not so for these. If a pure Bhikshu, at the time of precepts and Uposatha, refutes a mad or unremembering Bhikshu without expelling him, one should not respect, one should expel him from the precepts and Uposatha. It is a matter of discipline, that is, what is asked. It is possible to divide the Sangha and make it different.

Do not speak of things that one is unwilling to hear. If a monk who does not possess discipline is well-versed in the three baskets and finds fault in a group or a coarse person, even if I accuse him, he will not be happy, but will only turn into hatred. If it is decided not to accuse him simply because of this, then there is no fault in not accusing him. Do not speak without end. If a monk of low status has a fault, if the other party is a group or a coarse person who accuses him, he will respectfully accept and ask for forgiveness. Even if there is no fault, do not use harsh words, but slowly confess, saying: I have no fault. Do not immediately suppress what is inappropriate. Do not live with a monk who harbors hatred, and do not sit together even in the same place. Do not walk together, do not live in the same place, and do not go to the place where he lives. If you go, separate two or three seats. As the above sutra says, if you participate in offerings or sit in the same row with a monk who harbors hatred, separate two or three seats in between. Others are the same. For a monk who has generated hatred, if the other party is an untamed monk, or an elderly and knowledgeable monk, or a young monk, two or three seats should also be separated. He uses the monastery and gives. When the two monks who harbor hatred behind allocate the monastery, the Sangha should not allocate the rooms like wings, but should separate the rooms and place them in the southeast, northwest, and other directions. It is the same if accepted. As it says later, even if the Sangha allocates the rooms together, we two will not live together. If it is known that these people are attached to these things that are not Dharma, the Sangha will not gather. If there are two monks who hold different views, one attached to the Buddha's teachings and rules, and one attached to wrong views, if the two of them argue, another person mediates and makes the person who tends towards unwholesomeness tend towards the Buddha's teachings again, if the two of them split, there is no fault. If they do not split, the two of them each receive offerings from four to five monks, and if there is not a single monk among the four, then they have committed the sin of splitting the Sangha, and it will not become a remaining sin. Therefore, do not engage in activities with him and others, and do not interfere with each other. As it says later, the Sangha that has been split is within a common boundary.
