When the disciplinarian monk circumambulates the monastery, he should carry a wooden staff and go first to recite praises to the Buddha. If not, it is the turn of the penalized one. If the penalized one does not know the praises, he should ask a friend for help, have him recite the praises, and then strike the ghanta. The penalized monk strikes the ghanta at gatherings such as meals. If it is his turn, he should learn from the monks. The penalized monk fans the monks' meal with a fan when the sun is hot. All of this is completed perfectly. The seat of the penalized one is at the end of all those who have fully taken vows, sitting above everyone. After eating, he is responsible for laying out the mattresses. The penalized monk, after the monks have finished their meal, shakes and folds the monks' cushions, etc., and places them in the mattress room or a secluded place. Discard the base of the bowl.

When a penalized bhikshu is carrying out the penalty, he should be placed in a bad room within the monastery. The reason is with regard to all acquisitions. If a faithful Brahmin or patron makes an offering to the sangha as a whole, the penalized bhikshu should also be given a share of the offering like other ordinary bhikshus. Virtuous actions should be performed. When a penalized bhikshu is carrying out the penalty, he should continuously perform virtuous deeds in the three times. Likewise, here, one should seek its nature and give instruction. If he engages in impure conduct, then for a bhikshu who has been given lifelong training, and for two bhikshus who have accidentally committed one of the five classes of offenses, who have been forced to seek their nature due to doubt, all the things that the aforementioned penalized person should do should be done. It should not be explained. For the two bhikshus who have been given lifelong training and forced to seek their nature, when reciting the Pratimoksha, even if a pure bhikshu does not have explicit knowledge, he should not recite the Pratimoksha. The former recovers his nature through confession. A bhikshu who has accidentally committed one of the five classes of offenses and has been forced to seek his nature due to doubt becomes pure when he remembers and confesses to the bhikshus. The latter becomes an Arhat. A bhikshu who has been given lifelong training after practicing celibacy becomes pure when he becomes an Arhat. From the opening ceremony onwards, one should also act in accordance with what has been done in monasteries and so forth. For the remaining penalty and the number of days to make it satisfactory, if the sangha is less than twenty, or even if it is sufficient but does not possess the conditions, one should wait until the sangha reaches twenty. While waiting in this way, the penalty and satisfaction should not be interrupted until the sangha reaches the complete number, nor should it be interrupted or abandoned, but these actions should be performed until the sangha reaches twenty. In the abbreviated Sutra of Acquaintance with Things, it says, "From the word 'penalty' onwards, until 'do not let the lower sutra become meaningless'," all penal actions should be performed, and the penal actions after that need not be performed. When carrying out the penalty in this way, one should stay in a bad room within the monastery, and a share of the offering made to the sangha as a whole should also be given. Likewise, it is the same for conduct, reproach, expulsion, deprivation, and abandonment. Sangha
