Do not do things that will cause regret. When establishing rules for the Sangha, do not make regulations such as completely prohibiting speech, or like not allowing any monks to live here, leading to the death of the elderly and sick. What if it takes a long time? What if it's overnight? Without washing the face, one should not be made to prostrate to the teacher, nor should the teacher prostrate to others. Prepare a toothbrush. If it is dirty, trim the toothbrush and wash it. Be secluded. Washing the face should also be done in a secluded place. The same goes for urination and defecation. Defecation should also be done in a secluded place. Do not do it under a tree or by a wall. Do not urinate, defecate, or use a toothbrush in crowded places, such as under trees or by walls. The punishment for violation is from twelve finger-widths to eight finger-widths. The size of the toothbrush should be below twelve finger-widths and above eight finger-widths, not too short, because once a monk made his toothbrush very short, and when the Buddha came, he dared not throw it away, so he swallowed it and it got stuck in his throat and he died, hence this rule was established. It was too long because the Six Group monks made their toothbrushes very long, which was not beautiful and they whipped others like a whip, hence this rule was established. If there is not much phlegm, more than four finger-widths is fine. If there is a lot of phlegm, severe diphtheria, and few toothbrushes, if there are none, it is not a sin to make it more than four finger-widths. In the residence, one should not throw it on the Dharma vessel or copper vessel. If using a toothbrush and washing the face in the residence, it is not a sin to wash in the Dharma vessel or copper vessel. It is not considered unsecluded even under the eaves. If using a toothbrush and washing the face under the eaves of the roof, it is considered secluded and there is no sin. These are also included within the range of one cubit. The area within one cubit of the eaves is considered the eaves. It is not a sin to use a toothbrush and wash the face within that range. After that, use a tongue scraper, and carry a tongue scraper after washing the face. The material of the tongue scraper is metal. The material of the tongue scraper is metal, and it can be made of iron, copper, karava, and ragan, and it is not a sin to carry it. Therefore, the cracks in the toothbrush should also be checked. If not carrying a tongue scraper like Sujata, it is okay to scrape with the cracks in the toothbrush. Do not rub the toothbrush against each other without sharpening the

Rubbing one piece of wood against another, rub with a blunt edge, and do it slowly so as not to cut the tongue with the sharp edge. Do not rub the tongue, teeth, and ears with a sharp edge. For the teeth, tongue, and ears, whatever it may be, do not rub because the sharp edge will prick and hurt them. Do not let the fire be too slow, so that its flame does not burn. When rubbing the teeth, ears, and tongue, rub slowly and moderately so as not to cause harm and bleeding. Do not discard the side contaminated with mouth dirt without washing or wiping with earth before cleaning the tongue and teeth. Do not discard the chewed tooth wood without washing it with water or wiping off the dirt and saliva contamination from the mouth with earth. Do not discard it without making a sound. When discarding the tooth wood, do not discard it without making a "hissing" or spitting sound. This is an example, such as feces, urine, and saliva, mucus, vomit, fever, and so on. Making a sound when discarding the tooth wood is an example, just as discarding these things also makes a "hissing" and spitting sound. These things discarded by name are not discards, but discarding anything like clods of earth will make a sound. Cleaning can also be accomplished with these things, namely with calamus powder or dry dung. If there is no tooth wood to clean the mouth, it can also be cleaned with these things, calamus refers to the calamus root, and powder made from kusha grass and incense, etc. Immediately after doing these bodily activities, pay homage to the stupa. After completing the external cleaning of the body, such as washing hands and feet mentioned later, pay homage to the stupa, and even if there is no stupa, visualize it in your mind and pay homage. Those who belong should do it diligently. Before the age of ten and before possessing the five qualities, the work that belongs to oneself, namely serving the Khenpo and elders, and the various works that will appear below, should be done diligently. Immediately afterwards, go to the inner room and pay homage. After washing in the morning, immediately pay homage to the stupa, and then pay homage to the Khenpo. Even if you have not washed, pay homage with the lower three parts of the body. Greet with inquiries about well-being. Inquire whether the Khenpo is comfortable or not. Offer calamus water and tooth wood. Offer these utensils for the Khenpo to wash his face, etc., and prepare them. Carefully observe the types of food and report them. For whatever food the Khenpo has, have others mix it thoroughly and inform the Khenpo, reporting, "Mix this and this."
