In order to understand what I have not understood and understood in recitation and reading, I go to listen, especially for the firm belief that I will not be disturbed by demons and can obtain the stages of Lesser Vehicle and Arhat, I go to listen to the teachings of the Khenpo and Acharya, and also for the purpose of eliminating my desires, I do those things. If there is doubt about the five kinds of downfalls, in order to eliminate the doubt, I go to visit the learned Khenpo, and also for these purposes, if I go after reciting the seven-day mantra, there is no fault. Having entered the precepts, one should not abandon dwelling in them. Having entered the precepts, within three months, the Bhikshu should not interrupt what the Buddha has said from the five assemblies. If someone says that one should be expelled, one should not expel them, but should observe and then dwell, and should not cut off with sin. Similarly, one should not accept the whipping and joy of punishment. Those who have committed a fundamental downfall should be expelled. One should also be proficient in the four kinds of things. When taking the precepts, if one promises, "I will live by alms," and then leaves, one will commit a sin. Similarly, if one says, "I will give a bowl," but does not give it, or says, "I will give a Dharma robe" and then leaves, or promises, "I will teach the Dharma" but does not go, one will also commit a sin. The affairs of summer are completed. One should not establish a silent deity. One should not establish a silent asceticism like, "If one sits in silence, one will attain liberation." If one enters this state, one will commit a gross sin between pure liberation. Like not speaking as said in the upper sutra, also like not speaking as a silent ascetic, it will become a gross sin of breaking the precepts. If one merely thinks of sitting in silent meditation, one will also commit a sin. Those who enter the precepts through seeing, hearing, and doubting will be expelled by the Sangha. When leaving the precepts, one should say to all the Sangha, "If any of you have seen, heard, or doubted that I have committed any of the five kinds of downfalls, please accuse me." After reciting this mantra of opening, one can expel them. The end of summer is daytime. The time of dwelling in the precepts is: if one first enters the precepts on the fifteenth day of the middle month of summer, one will leave on the fifteenth day of the middle month of autumn. If one enters the precepts on the sixteenth day of the last month of summer, one will leave on the fifteenth day of the last month of autumn. The place melts, until sweeping, about these days.
