Out of compassion for the leprous monk, the Sangha should provide him with offerings, shares of food, clothing, and even a servant from among the laypeople. In order to place the alms bowls and robes of the monks of the monastery, one should always circumambulate the dwelling. If there is a cause for fear in the monastery, in order to establish supports in the temple, a single room should be dedicated in common to all places where alms bowls and robes, etc., are placed. If one comes only at the time of entering the summer retreat, then objects and bedding should be placed. At the time of entering the retreat, in order for other monks to come to enter the retreat there from elsewhere, if there is a room, it should be prepared with requisites and placed. It is not just for the retreat; if there is a room, it should always be placed for other monks to come. If more arrive than those who have entered the retreat, it should be redistributed. Having entered the retreat, once the room and bedding have been distributed, if many monks arrive later, then the bedding and room of one person who has entered the retreat should be collected again and distributed. If it is entered in the lower retreat, it is not so. If, after entering the later retreat, the bedding and room have been distributed, and later one monk arrives from elsewhere, no matter how many arrive, it should not be redistributed. If it is permissible, it can be given to two, etc. If there are many bedding and rooms but few monks, then as many rooms and bedding as there are, one should give as much as one can obtain. One should not take back bedding for the sake of one person. Even if it is the Sangha, if one does not stay in that place for more than one night, one should not demand bedding and a room for the sake of one night. Some say that it is permissible to demand, but even if the Sangha does not give it, there is no fault. One should not dwell in a temple in order to desire gain. If a patron builds a house, some rooms are provided with many requisites and utensils, while others are provided with fewer; if one is arranging rooms with varying amounts of requisites and of varying quality, then it is a transgression if a senior monk or one of high rank chooses and takes a room. It is not a fault for the Sangha to proclaim, "Enjoy whatever you desire." If not everyone uses sparingly, but there are many rooms and many shares are obtained, then one should use them as described below, without leaving any remainder. Some use certain places for morning reading, recitation, and walking meditation. If one person obtains a room, some read and recite scriptures there, while others practice walking meditation there; that is, one room or one window is used for only one activity. Some do this at noon and at night as well. Room

If many rooms are obtained, some rooms are used during the midday, and some are used at night. Also, the place for keeping the alms bowl and Dharma robes, and other nights, should be classified in this way. If many huts are obtained, keep the alms bowl and Dharma robes in one hut. In some huts, activities such as sleeping are carried out, using them from the eyes to the nose. Using them separately like this has two merits: one is that it is spacious and comfortable for oneself; the other is that the benefactor accumulates offerings, which are transformed into merit. Those who have moved in should repair the broken and damaged items in the residence. After moving in, one cannot be arbitrary just because one needs a hut; one must repair and replace the damage, cracks, etc. of the hut. This should also be done when not moved in. On the summer meadow, one should also repair the residences of the nuns who have moved in for the summer. When the nuns have moved in, if the summer meadow is damaged or cracked, they should, like the monks, not set latches on their residences individually, but repair them together. In order to prevent disputants from entering, bedding should be taken in during winter and spring. In the three seasons of winter, spring, and summer, bedding and rooms should be collected and distributed equally. This is done for fairness. Also, if a disputatious monk comes from afar, in order not to let the disputant live in one person's room, do not leave extra bedding and rooms, but divide everything equally. Later it says not to distribute the gatehouse, etc., but if it is not distributed, the disputant will stay and come to make trouble, so the gatehouse and corridors, etc. must be distributed; the situation of disputes will be discussed later. For example, the courtyard of a temple is also very spacious. Everything else must be distributed, and what must be done is to separate the latches and wiping cloths, etc., so that the disputant has no place to stay. The corridor is also the same. The corridor where the Sangha gathers, because it is a place where the Sangha gathers, it seems that it should not be distributed, but if one hears that a disputant is coming, it must also be distributed. After that person leaves, do not do it that way again. Because the disputant has come, one must distribute as mentioned before; if the disputant leaves and does not come again, then the rooms and corridors, etc. that are used in common are not distributed arbitrarily and left there, but must be taken back and restored to common use. Naturally.
