As for reading aloud, it should be done by someone who can read the words and sentences without making any mistakes. It should be done by the abbot of the Sangha. When appointing someone to read the Pratimoksha Sutra, the responsible monk should offer flowers to the abbot sitting in the high seat and ask him to do it. If he cannot, then the second person should do it. If the first person cannot read the scriptures, then offer flowers to the person sitting below him and ask him to do it. If the third person cannot either, then offer flowers to the monk sitting below the second person and ask him to read. If he cannot either, then it is his turn. If none of the three of them know how to read, then let them recite the scriptures one after another. If they cannot, then appoint someone else. If these three people cannot recite one after another, then offer flowers to the person below who knows how to read and ask him to do it. If it is not possible, then the Sangha should do it. If the person who knows how to read cannot do it, then the entire Sangha should appoint someone to do it. Examination is also the same. If there is someone who knows the Pratimoksha Sutra and is proficient in the words and sentences without making mistakes, then always let him read the Pratimoksha Sutra. If he is sick, then let others do the remaining part. If one person has not finished reading the Pratimoksha Sutra and there is still some left, then replace him with someone who knows how to read, starting from the remaining part. Read in sections until it is finished. If, like reciting, one person cannot continue, then several people should continue one after another until it is finished. Unsuitable places refer to wanting to beautify dangerous places and performing Uposatha in places far from villages. If in a dangerous place, for the sake of flowers and good cushions, one comes out of the monastery and performs Uposatha there, it is a fault. Even if they do not sit together, they can go together. If one is on the road and wants to perform Uposatha, if one is separated from one's road companions, one should walk and recite the Pratimoksha Sutra together with one's road companions—laypeople. If one does not want to make a sound, one should recite the scriptures. If, like reciting, one is afraid to read aloud, one should reduce the sound of one's road companions and only read the scriptures. Even if that is not possible, then dedicate it. If, like reciting, one reads in a low voice and one's road companions scold, whatever fault there is, one should exercise authority over one's companions and conduct an examination. There is nothing that cannot be obtained, faith is the main thing, and one should be happy.

If there is blame, it is because a layperson who has heard the precepts, does not regress, does not change, does not become disgusted, relies on the Sangha and accepts teachings, even if the Uposatha ritual and precepts are taught to them, there is no fault. If staying, then do the Uposatha. If a householder wants to see the Uposatha ritual, saying that it is not allowed is not right, if they say this and stay, doing the Uposatha while staying nearby is also without fault. If it is a long time, even if a householder stays, it can be said. If one's own illness is serious, near death, or about to be killed by savages, and unable to confess to a monastic friend, then let the householder purify their own faults. The ritual can be blamed for this. If unruly people such as savages say that if the precepts are not taught, they will kill or beat, even if the precepts are taught, there is no fault. One can also blame the king. If the king asks about the precepts, even if told, there is no fault. Finally, it is not that one will not be born again in the future, but after having read the basis of the Pratimoksha, an accident occurs, the waist is cut off, and from then on the end is not read, it is still counted as Uposatha. If what is said, that much, the time, and the interruption are not accepted as they are, then this is not Dharma. If it disappears from the ear, it is gone. From behind, the previous Uposatha has been completed and left, if the latter person reaches the end, they gather again, the limit produced by this is that when the latter arrives, the former leaves, other monks, if someone hears the sound of idle talk, up until that time they stay, if they arrive, they leave the place where the Uposatha is done, even if they leave, they must gather again. Included in the distinctions and so on. The Uposatha ritual is a thing that arises from the Vinaya-vibhanga. The thing of Uposatha is complete. The thing of the explanation of Uposatha is complete. Entering the summer retreat. From the middle summer month to the middle autumn month is also acceptable. From the last summer month to the last autumn month is also acceptable. Whether early or late, one enters the retreat for rest. Three months is the period of three months for entering the summer retreat that needs to be observed. On the first day of the month, one enters the middle summer month, that is the first retreat. Immediately following the middle summer month. The sixteenth of the middle summer month.
